Agreed. Seriously cool, and tasteful; authentically American in that wonderfully optimistic period of the late 50s to 70s - the time that the rest of the world actually wanted to be like the US, or looked to the US as a role model (in art, life, movies, politics, civil rights, music )
Any sculptures I have - and I have a few - are a little more ..old school .
I do have a couple of "old school" sculptures created by my father. He was an artist, and worked mostly in 2 dimensions because the physical stress of sculpting (clay, granite) was difficult because of a heart condition, but he did create several sculptures when he was young.
I am partial to retro kitsch, though.😀
Yes, I can see that - but retro kitsch has its place, and they are wonderful.
Some time ago, I spent two years in the Caucasus, mainly in Georgia, shortly after their, um, conflict with Russia in August 2008.
From that time, I have a number made in brass (about a half a metre tall) by a very talented Georgian sculptor - two musicians (a sax player and a double bass player - brilliant - the life in these sculptures is wonderful); an extraordinarily elegant Athena/Venus by the same artist, also in a bronze style metal - this is beautiful - and a fantastic one - which I commissioned - the original was life sized on a street in central Tbilisi, of a Jewish style lamp-lighter on a ladder lighting an old municipal gas lamp; mine is a miniature of that.
In my current location, I have had maps of the country - with provinces delineated - made of against a background of lapis; very lovely.

Yes, I had wondered when you would react to Apple fanboy's post - and what form your reaction would (inevitably) take .Some guttural noises expressing horror were the least I had expected .along with something along the lines of 'blasphemy'.
It is, of course, entirely possible - if rather unlikely - that Apple fanboy penned his remarks in all innocence ...
I went with the red one because it would be less bright and straining at night. 😉 But maybe I'll get the other one too eventually.
BTW, the MBP you sold me is still rocking awesome. I put an 840 EVO in it a couple of weeks ago.
That totally makes sense actually. I read that you can't run it for longer than 10 hours though😕
Ha! I'm glad, then again it's not surprising. I never had any Macs fail on me yet. So much so that I've never purchased AppleCare. And when I did purchase AppleCare+ for my iPhone, I never had to use it. Then again, better be safe than sorry. My dad's 2009 Mac Mini is still running smoothly, yet in that time he had two HP monitors fail.
