Kiddo's iPhone 5s is on it's last legs, and she took great care of it while she had it, so she's getting a new SE. While some might say that's spoiling her, I look at it as a reward for showing that she can take care of what she has.
just bought myself a new truck. 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Midnight Edition. this is my first truck ever and was persuaded to buy it by my daughter. it will be hers in 3-4 years. 
I've been eyeing the Colorado's for quite a while now as a possible next vehicle, but I'm still in the hard sell phase from my run of good luck with Ford. The 'bang for the buck' factor is pushing me that way, versus the prices for an F-150 or the new Ranger. Interior is decent for a mid-sized truck, better than the Tacoma for sure. I didn’t even look at Rangers, so I can’t compare. I did ride in a king ranch F150 and that is way nicer. I’m out on the trails, right now. I’ll post some pics later.

Thats funny, I just bought my daughter an Iphone SE as her first iPhone. We'll see how it works out.

For a kid who doesn't have a lot of needs, it's a great iPhone. I've got one myself, and I like it simply because I like the smaller size. She's pretty content to use her iPad for stuff that needs a bigger screen but doesn't need to be in her room, and she's got a 27" monitor on her Mac. Helps that she's not into outdoing her friends.
so this is the midnight edition which is all black. they also have a dusk edition which is any other color with all black trim and interior. i'm not sure what the standard interior is like, but i agree with you. i don't really care for shiny bits.

I bought the iPhone SE for myself earlier this year - my first iPhone, indeed, my first smartphone - and like it very much.
