Appologies for the copyright text but I've added it for my own protection.

This is a personal project created in 2004, long time before the current rumblings for the "iPhone"

Size - iPod Mini,
Model Name - NewtonM - in homage to the Newton and the fact its a smartphone rather than a music phone.
OS - OS-Xm

Techniques used to produce imagery.

Initial modelling in solidworks, exported via stl to 3ds max, then its all rendered, nothing apart from the outside border was added in photoshop although the screen was produced in photoshop :)

Why does that remind me of the Zune?:)

... copying the zune ... ?

because of what, the screen shape/size?

is there a better way, to make the screen larger and still have controls?
a touchscreen maybe, but then again show me the patent apple has on scratch resistence and fingerprint resistence.

Are you serious or just being cute? Who do you think Microsoft copied in coming up with the Zune?
I know, I know I know, but there definitely are similarities. I'm just saying that with the tall screen, the clickwheel pushed down and that ....gui kind of thing on the screen, it looks a lot like a (well-designed) kind of Zune.

EDIT - To illustrate my point:

;)

I did this one almost a year ago when there were a slew of threads about ants taking up residence in people Macs.

Mac Semipro :)

I've never seen the inside of the Mac Mini, so I don't know if this would make any sense in terms of heat dissipation. The idea here is just to have a Mini with a graphics card slot.

I'm surprised no one thought the iPhone would have a touch screen.

Anyway, made this in about 2 seconds in Seashore, Im board and it was something to do. :)

It's kinda cool to look at all the mockups that people make (before the product they are mocking up is released) and compare it to the way the actual Apple product looks. For example, the iPhone. Everyone (ok, not everybody) thought it would be the iPod case with phone capabilities. But then it turned out so much different. The OP did an amazing job of predicting what the Mac Pro would look like, it is quite exact, other than the placement of the USB ports and FW (they are horizontal) etc. But that was really cool. I bet nobody was able to predict the insides, though.
