Hey, thanks for the enlightenment :) *gives an internet cookie*

I saw the post of your setup and it's very inspiring  Now i am very certain to buy the wireless keyboard and a good laptop stand, but do tell me, is the Griffin Elevator a good investment?
*Mmmm...that cookie was good*

I'll be posting updated photos of my setup sometime soon, I moved into my dorm a few weeks ago and my setup is just about completely finalized now.

I feel that the Griffin Elevator is an amazing investment, it was only $39 and assembles remarkably easily. There were a few times when I would need to bring it somewhere and its ease of collapsing made it remarkably easy. I feel that it also offers greater ventilation for the computer since about 80% of the bottom is uncovered, unlike the M-Stand which covers a significant portion of the bottom. I highly recommend the Griffin Elevator.

I have saved up for a long time, I paid for everything except half of the MacBook Pro. The ACD is refurb(1/3 off normal price). I also have a first gen iPhone in PERFECT condition. I took this with my 32GB white iPhone 3GS. I'm 15. To go ahead and save the posting about how I should not have all this stuff or I need to spend my money on something else 1. I got all of this over a period of 2 years that I worked to get the money for and 2. This is not what I spend all of my money on, but it is one of my more expensive hobbies.

What mouse is that?

Here's mine...

Hi there, I have a question. Can you tell me how do use only 1 of the screens when an external monitor is hooked to the mbp?

I connected and external monitor to mine, but whenever I closed the mbp, both monitors go to sleep.

Thanks!

Once the Macbook light starts to pulse hold down the space bar (or any other key) on your external keyboard. It will wake up.

But i read some bad reviews about it though, there are some people who are complaining on Amazon that the heat of the laptop "melts" the Elevator's grip :/ Did you run into this problem as well?

I haven't noticed this issue, if it has melted at all then it has been very slowly over a very long period of time. I will leave my MacBook on it for days without it budging an inch.

As someone else mentioned, you just press a key or click the mouse buttons. Mac OS X has wake on USB and wake on Bluetooth so both types of mouse/keyboards will be able to wake the computer once it goes to sleep after closing the lid.

Personally though, when I'm out with the notebook and I'm done using it, I just close the lid. When I come home, I just plug in the MagSafe, mini dp, Ethernet, and THEN the USB from the LED. The USB device getting plugged in turns on the mac, and since the mini dp was plugged in before, it will find that display and start using it.

are you on bimmerforums?

sweet setup

Thanks! No but I'm on bimmerpost (diff. username there though). A few years ago, I was looking for a discussion board for bimmers, and I came across 'post, bimmerforums, and bimmerfest. Based on the look of it, I chose post. I know that's a horrible way of choosing a community, but I think it's actually quite good. The E90 and 1Addicts boards there are VERY active.

Sorry for thread jack.

It's been a LONG time since I've posted my set up on here, but it's recently undergone tons of changes (not to mention a different house) so I figured it was a good idea to post it up.

I just purchased a 23" ACD from a friend of mine. Saying how amazing this monitor is wouldn't do it justice. It is incredible. I also added a 1TB FreeAgent drive and a few other goodies.

The lighting behind everything is an LED set from Ikea. I taped the switch for it on the floor so I can just tap it with my foot when I need some mood lighting.
