Love the setup Limei

You are the ultimate geek to me and I always love to see what you are up to!
I haven't seen you around as much lately... maybe that is just me
Anyways... awesome setup!

Haha thanks! *bows* :D I try not to waste any technology I have around me. If I can't use it or don't have the space for it I'll sell it or give it away, but the working older Macs I have (and there are quite a few) still get booted up and played with when I get the chance. And things like the proptotype Set Top Boxes are too cool to even consider parting with. ;)

One day I hope to have them setup properly and out of the basement. Work has caused me to come and go here a bit but, you can always keep up with me on my blog. Plenty of geeky stuff going on there. :p

I haven't posted my setup in awhile so i thought it would be a good time to since i just spent a portion of my tax return already on some new KRK rokit 6's and an apogee one interface. I haven't gotten a chance to manage the cords as much as i would like to so no comments on the cords!! haha. This is my macbook pro 2.8ghz, 23" dell lcd on a neoflex arm and behind the laptop is the OWC 1tb HD.

Monitor has same panel but, unlike the old, has 4 USB ports, and a base that allows for around 6" in height adjustment and 90* swivel for vertical display. Thanks to the height of the new monitor I can finally use my mStand again!

I have both the Edge (Mac edition, of course) and the MX Revolution. Had the mouse for a year and a half now, and it's awesome. Reception is great, buttons are awesome, and battery life is amazing, even though I use it for ~10hrs a day and leave it on while charging. Honestly, if you just put it into the dock when you're not at your computer, you'll never have a problem.
Also, I got it on Amazon for a steal of $49--maybe that is impacting my review, but even if I paid full price, I think I'd still be happy. One thing that does bother me, however, is that I have to leave the dongle plugged in; for the price, it should've been Bluetooth rather than RF.

The Edge is an awesome, awesome, awesome keyboard. No other way to describe it, really. I was hesitant to get it due to a lot of negative reviews and its price tag, but I again found it on Amazon for a huge discount, and decided to make the switch from Apple's wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The typing experience is great--something in between the Apple keyboards and a more traditional Dell-like keyboard--and the Apple-specific keys are a fantastic addition. The trackpad is great for just using as a mouse, but it sucks pretty hard at scrolling around a page. Also, the volume slider works fantastically well (far better than the reviews had indicated), and the lights at power-up are pretty awesome ;). I will say that it seems really strange that the iTunes controls on the left go Pause/Play, Previous, and then Next. I find myself often pushing Previous instead of Next; seems like they should have switched the two.

So, in short, just put the two in their docks when you're away from your desk, and you'll be absolutely fine. I could not be happier with my purchases.

All great to know, thanks!

In the end, I decided that I didn't really need the thumbpad or the higher cost associated with the Edge, so I went ahead and ordered the non-Edge from B&H for $60. I figured the programmable keys should make up for the lack of media keys.

I absolutely love my mouse, it is by far the best mouse I have ever used. I only charge it when the indicator is red, however, as I don't want to damage the battery (it holds a charge for about two weeks of heavy use, despite being more than a year old). By the way, the MX Revolution is BlueTooth-based, but it won't work with the built-in BT on Macs, only with Logitech's BT dongle. How stupid is that?

YESS- This guy just learned Geektool! Any ideas on how to hide the wires on the side? I wish there was some way to manage them under the desk or so.
I got the MBP stand at staples for $20 - half the price for your mstands and such.

Well this is from the past... (obviously) probably more back then originally needed but... ;)

A Macintosh Color Classic upgraded with an LC 575 board. Apple Adjustable Keyboard, External CD-ROM, Zip 100 connected via SCSI. Netwon Message pad on the left and a QuickTake 200 on top of the Zip drive. All peripherals worked with the system, at the time of the photo I was playing a Beatles CD through the disc drive using "Apple CD Audio Player". Speakers are Apple Design Speakers II, also have a black pair somewhere. :)

This is great! I had forgotten about the PowerUser label--I think that was MacWarehouse?

I always wanted a pair of the original Apple Design Spekaers, but never got around to buying them. Sadly, my Apple Adjustable Keyboard died in 1999 or so....

Get posting some pics of your setup with it more visible! They're SO nice. I'd love to replace my Graphire4 with one but finances won't allow it :(

JC

Hahaha. I suppose I could take some brighter pictures today. Just took pictures with it at the normal operating brightness. ;P I hate a ton of lights on in a room.

Is that Winamp running? that takes me back...

WinAmp? On a Mac? No. :p It's "Apple CD Audio Player", the window color is customizable, but the default is black/purple. The default CD player software, long before iTunes, on the Classic Mac OS systems.

I believe it's from ClubMac, although I could be mistaken. My Apple Adjustable Keyboard I think may be on it's way out also, I have to press the keys pretty hard to use it - so it's barely used, except in photos. I think I got the pair of speakers for $10 or $15, they came in the box and they work perfectly. I got the black pair cheaper because one of the stands was damaged. ;)

Bwa was right, PowerUser was MacWarehouse. I've got an old 90s catalog here so I looked it up.

Hello everyone! This account may be new, but I've been reading this website since about aught three, and thought that this would be a good thread to begin posting :D

Anyway, here is my setup (In my dorm). Sorry about the bad image quality, the lighting was not all that good.

What you see:
  • 450 Mhz G4 Cube with 40 GB hard drive and 512 MB RAM, running 10.4.11 (Working on getting the RAM up to 1.5).
  • 12" 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4 with 1.2 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive running 10.4.11. This computer follows me everywhere, and I'll keep using it until the day it dies. Which, if the current trend continues, will be...never. :D
  • A very messy work area :D

:apple:

hah... I didn't even notice the wallpaper, just the red, white & blue color scheme with your desk, mac, and headphones. ;) Wallpaper definitely ties it all together, though!
