Small update as to where I'm at... Still not very happy with it.

P.S.
Stefmesman, I can't hear you over all that awesome you call your Mac Setup. :)

Great taste in music. Jay Dee, MF, and Common are three of my favorites.

Here's mine, besides the Macs in my sig it includes:

- old 19" Samsung as a second monitor for the iMac
- old Creative 2.1 speakers
- Sans Digital TowerStor TS2CT enclosure with two 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3s in RAID 1 (connected via FW800)
- 500 GB Iomega USB 2.0 external
- Canon HF S100

And the desk is an Ikea Galant, 78"x23" (47"x23" connected with a 31"x23")

Yes I know it's in front of a closet... I don't open it very much :D

love your clock :D

1. upgrade to 16GB RAM ;)
2. get another plant for symmetry
3. get FW HDDs instead of 4. USB. :)
4. get a blue light! green is overrated.

1. good idea il think about it when i have some spare cash :D
2. what kind of something would you suggest?
3. can't plug FW HD's in. my audio controller already occupies my only firewire port. daisy linking makes the sound lagg. :( any tips?
4. the light is white :) the board behind my mac is green.

thank you very much for your suggestions!

what configuration do you have in at the moment? im guessing 4x2GB sticks?
owc has 16GB for $US454 + ~$30US delivery to most countries.

3, hmmm, could be a solution! but i dunno if it will work. and thier quite pricey. anyone got more inside info on how this will perform?

4, lol, looks like my board will need a paint job then :p ill photoshop it later. see how it turns out. :)

i originally went with the stock, so much easier to upgrade everything yourself - now running 12GB, will go to 16GB in a year or so when i need it.

an ant farm would be cool also :)

unfortunately i havent had a chance to see how they will perform, if you are writing directly to the HDD at the same time as recording then obviously the FW bus will still be saturated identically as before, but if you just use the HDD for time machine/backup manually then it should be ok.

i use the HDD for storage of music and video's. still need to buy an extra for time machine. USB 2 should be enough right? what size drive would be good for my imac with time machine?

thanks!

I think it looks great just as it is. I like the green better than the blue. The keyboard cable is barely noticeable in that lighting. Good job. :D

Just wondering what desk that is or if there are any links to somewhere I can see it in regular lighting. It looks really cool and simple with the back cable management.

thats a great idea man! i think ill do that when i get a house of my own :)

oh is that all. USB2.0 will be fine then! generally for TM you'd be recommended 1.5x the storage space of the computer. 1TB = 1.5TB recommended.

edit: can you post a shot of the light behind it?
