Ugh... I can't wait till I get a real job, a real apartment/condo/house, and some REAL FURNITURE.

Anyhoo, I'm sharing an apartment with two friends while in my last year of school. This is how I rock it while at the University:

And I use my laptop at the school while in class or working on projects.

Then, while not really my "Mac setup", this is where I do a lot of my computer "work". :p

Here is my finished (for now) setup :D

The picture does not do them justice but those are two 27 inch Apple Cinema Displays there.

(Oh, and don't mind the weird colors on the screens, I had to correct some serious white balance on this picture since the room I'm in has HORRIBLE lighting. (I usually keep the lights off).

Great setup! Now, remove those curtains and it would be outstanding. Replace it by something a bit more, uhm, modern?

Can you give me some details about the external enclosure you've got there?
I know it's the OWC one (don't know the exact name right now but doesn't matter), but some real life performance indication would be nice.

I'm just asking because I've got a similar 4 bay enclosure myself but the transfer rates are just horrible (115MB/s) and I'm not sure if it's the box or my eSATA card.

Lol! This is only temporary until I get my own place. I just got done working overseas for the past three years so I'm with my parents until I can find an apartment in my area. Being 28 living at home is noooo fun. (Ive been searching for apartments for a month and a half and still found nothing :'( )

My parents definitely have old people taste :p

that is a VERY nice setup - that MP must be amazing to use! what do you do with it?

also - how do you find a cornered desk? the amount of space available in such a short reach must be quite amazing! would you recommend it?

I love the Mac Pro :) I'm a hobbyist game developer and I do 3D modeling, programming, digital painting, photo work, and dabble in music and video with it. Its a great machine and the best computer I've ever owned.

As for the desk, I LOVE it. Its the IKEA Galant series desks. Its the corner piece, two extensions, and two round ends. The 5 piece desks run around $500 total but are extremely sturdy (and adjustable.) Its worth every penny and I highly recommend it. I love the space it provides.

Here is my setup !

Hope you guys like it ! My L shape furniture was designed by my self ! And the shelfs too !

I took the photos with my iPhone 4, so the quality is not THAT good.
Hope you like !

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot it. The spaces between my books in the first shelf, where the cables appear, used to be my mac mini spot. The new Apple TV will be sitting there soon, I hope !

I made the desk and the Monitor stand myself. The desk isn't quite finished. The legs near the printer are temporary.

Hi, love the setup. I've been interested in maybe making my own monitor stand, and I like the look of yours. This is probably a really stupid question but where did you find those building materials (small pieces of finished wood)? Is it just normal wood that you've sanded, laminated etc. yourself?

Thanks, Nic

I have that printer XD It's an MX860.. and it fits the scale of his setup because it's a huge printer. Sadly, they go through ink like a heavily modified muscle car goes through gas on a race day.

That model was replaced by the now current MX870 - it has blue LEDs and a slightly nicer UI (not to mention, you can setup the Wifi interface from the printer itself now instead of having to do it over the wired interface).

However, it still guzzles ink lol. At $60+ for a full ink package, it's not cheap to run, but you can sometimes find cheap machines that come with the same ink tanks (yay!) for $50-ish and then have spare printers XD

*Edit* I was looking at his desk again. Geez. That's a crapload of desk! lol

Correct! :D

Mine is actually really good on ink though, then again I never print at full quality, I always print on draft quality (or whatever Canon calls it, which is fine for almost everything except pictures or lots of colors).

I do like the UI of the MX870, there is one downstairs. The only thing I don't like about the MX870 is when doing scanning from the printer to the computer its a few extra steps but it is a very nice machine. Also setting up wifi from the printer is a huge plus. Its a pain in the ass to set up the MX860 (luckily you only need to do it once).

Staples often has various Canon printers for dirt cheap. The MX860 was $80 at staples, and a version really similar to this one was there for $50. They are a great value especially if you need dual sided scanning.
