Sweet, but I think I've got enough cinema displays right now - I have a 20" sitting next to my printer on the other table that I can't use because I need to get a dvi->ADC brick lol.

Funny thing, I bought the 20" new also when I got the MDD (which was why I purchased the MDD :D) - despite traveling in the trunk of my car on road trips, it held up better than my 23" (which doesn't travel) - the screen is slightly better quality (the matte layer doesn't have a grainy effect), and the plastic case has held up much better. Go figure. XD

I think what might have happened was my 23" was stored in non-temp-controlled storage (weird, but it came from UNC surplus.. whatever).

Seriously, when the machine is running it's not any noisier than my QS was stock - thing is I modified my QS to run quieter, and I'm just not in the mood to do that with the MDD (plus, it has 2 60mm fans that are a pain to replace)

Sadly this is true which is y i try to buy them in Germany.

Fona accepts my Student but its only 5% which is nothing if a 8999dkk Machine with Discount costs around 8400dkk

Yeah, the student discount is not worth it... I bought the uMBP last year in september (I think it was) with an "free iPod Nano" (app. 300DKK)... that was worth it... but else it just simply sucks with the discounts.

But I won't buy anything in Germany.

anyone rocking a shallow desk with either a 21" or 27" imac? Shallow as in a depth of 14"-18" deep? Unless we move the bed in our room,, we either have to have desks under 42" wide or against the wall with no more than 18" deep. I dont mind having a shallow desk but from wall to bed is 40". with an 16"-18" desk or table that leaves very little room for a chair :(

That linear algebra book was the devil. I remember using it a year ago. He writes in a spiral fashion and his stupid study guide did nothing but call you stupid by posting "you should know this by now" for half of the anders. Ugh. Had to post that ha ha

Just Finished Building my New desk inside of my closet!:)

IMG_8738.jpg

It is fairly basic with a 3/4" Birch Veneer Plywood top, with a 2" x 4" frame around the closet.
The top is about 4.5 ft. wide by 2.5 ft. deep, and 28 inches in Height.

IMG_8746.jpg

Under the desk I built in a "Wire and Electronics Box" for Wire Maintenance.

Tech Stuff:

Computer: Mid 2010 uMBP i5 2.4Ghz (First Mac), that is sitting on the mStand by Rain Designs

Monitor: Asus 24" 1080p VW246H, Mounted on a 3M Adjustable Monitor Arm

Speakers: Klipsch - ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System

Accessories:
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Apple Magic Trackpad
Apple Magic Mouse
Razer Vespula Mouse Pad
Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Headphones. (Hanging on custom made holder)

I also have an HDMI cable and the Moshi HDMI to MDP adapter running to my TV
which is located directly to the left of my desk for when I want to watch Videos.

Let me know if you have any questions about how or what I used to Build the desk, or any of the electronics.

It IS an evil book. My college switched books and didn't tell my teacher, he didn't even know until the first day of class!! Soooo.. he was confused, and everyone else is confused.. and to add to the fire, the book teaches WAY out of order compared to what the old one was so apparently both of our Linear Algebra teachers are pretty lost. It emphasizes subjects that don't matter much (apparently)..

The answers in the back make me laugh because it does say something like that (Reading the study guide before answering the question destroys the purpose of the question! please don't!)

@ The dude with the desk in the closet, long ago I saw a setup on DSLReports that was done just like that - only the dude used cheap in-ceiling speakers on the walls and ran the wires IN THE WALLS! He put a set of VGA[/i] ports in the walls above and below the desk to drive his LCDs..

If you're anything like me and the rest of my linear class, you'll suddenly see how the book makes total sense RIGHT AT THE END D< Ugh. I hit fourier series and I was like, "MY GOD I UNDERSTAND LINEAR!" I am lucky though because while my professor is the toughest man alive when it comes to math, he makes you PROVE everything and by proving it piece by piece, and then reading outside references, it's all good. If you've taken linear before and need to just refresh, or you're really good with conceptualizing everything, the book is actually really useful and great.

The best thing though: The sheared sheep image. Greatest. Image. Ever.

My professor didn't see why we hated the book at first. He was like, "...but the book is very accurate!" Which was true, but you only got solutions to every 4th odd problem or something like that and half of those were like, "YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS HAHA"

Thanks you guys for the comments!

Dig the cable management, I'd say now all you need to do is paint them to match the wall.

I had thought about doing that, but you can't see the Wire Box at all, unless you are at ground level with the desk it's only 8 inches in depth, so pretty hidden underneath. I may still do that because I would like to paint the Cord Hiders, so may do it at the same time.

also stain the desk to match the trim :D

I was thinking of doing that, but I do like the natural look of the birch, Plus I am going to be getting a few things from Ikea that look the same as the desk.:D
