The new one's a beauty!

I can agree with you on that. Aside from the great picture the acd also has one major advantage for me. I'm not sure if it can be attributed to the IPS technology but eye strain is reduced a lot for me. I am pretty sensitive to monitors but the acd has been great so far.

I need a man-cave damnit! I could have so much fun setting one up. Anyways, looks great. I think your TV remote is just a little too small though, you need something bigger :p

I definitely need to pick up an iPad. With the consensus being that people love them, should i get one now, or wait for an updated one next summer? Thoughts?

I would wait til next summer. Of course this holiday iPads are going to be the hot item to give/want. Then it will be obsolete when the second gen iPad come out next year. Facetime, better specs.

I didn't care for that stuff and didn't want to wait so I got it around June. I was skeptical but I do enjoy using my iPad. Is it a must-have? Of course not and 500 is a lot. But it's definitely nice if you can afford it.

But I enjoy the instant-on, Pulse newsreader, USAToday, Flipboard, Remote app and the Snatch app. Plus I load up photos and take them to my parents and they enjoy looking at them. They don't know or care to use email, but they know how to swipe with their finger to change photos

As a remote though I actually have a dinovo edge to control my mac mini, it's just faster and more responsive than having to use Wi-Fi. Though remote sharing is not bad as well so I could also use one of my mbp's.

Amazing how similar our setups are! Your's is more clean and well put together though :p . Mac pro 3,1 is sitting on the floor to the right and 15" Al Mbp is in my bag someplace.

Hahaha. I'm liking your setup better, tho'!

Great setup, Ubuntufu!!!!!!

^ :O! love your setup. What did you do with the other monitors?

They're currently in the closet. I'd like to sell them, but Macrumors has some pretty strange rules about the marketplace that I don't qualify for. I have both 20" monitors plus the ADC-DVI adapters. Both are near perfect, although one of them was starting to develop a slight buzz if it was at lower than full brightness.

Those monitors were $1099 back in the day! It's hard to believe that the new 24" was $599. Crazy.

Don't want to bother with CraigsList? I think it'd actually be easier than packaging everything up and having to ship. I've sold numerous items through CraigsList and never had a negative experience. On the other hand, I subscribe to a lowendmac mailing list where people can sell (and ship around the world) old Macs and peripherals, and once in awhile someone sends a message out to the whole list saying "so-and-so never responded after I sent the money" or the like. That's why I always prefer to deal in person. :)

I got my new Dell U2711 and it's awesome. Nothing much else has changed in this setup except that I have B&W DM302 speakers on the desk now after my Creature speakers developed a bit of a short in the L channel.

What kinda camera is that? That picture quality is amazing.

Here is my setup, rat's nest and all. Sadly my new gig requires me to work less at home and more in the office.... The dual 24's and the mac pro are new additions. Not pictured is my wife's iPhone and iPad.

dumb question: what device did you use to connect those 2 monitors, cause I find ViBook quite expensive.any other tips or suggestions?

I am planning to have another Alu Cinema Display with my mac mini.

Thanks

- 30" ACD
- Dell 2007FP (both S-IPS)
- 4 bay 5TB eSATA for storage backup
- 1 bay 640GB eSATA for CCC clone and TimeMachine of boot drive
- 13" MBP, 2GB, 120GB SSD
- APC UPS for Mac Pro

My Dell monitors, while plastic, were coated in the same color paint. The ones I had didn't rotate like that though. I gather its just the standard paint.

Everyone has these screens side by side, and now Im starting to have an idea, albeit a stupid one at that. I currently have a 27" i7, and when I ordered it through the company we order electronics from at work, something went wrong in their system, and we received two of them. What sucks is that the company doesnt accept returns, so we are stuck with a 27" iMac in our store, at a price of 1900 euros, which nobody will probably buy. Whats weird is the iMac is an i5 machine (weird because I ordered an i7, and an i5 came as well). So I am thinking, if that machine isnt bought in the next six months, I might just end up picking it up, and placing on my wall, right next to my 27 incher. Talk about having two screens side by side. Of course I dont pay the price we sell it for (it would be about 1500 for me), but it would look so bad ass on my wall. But do I need it? Or do I just want it? lol.

Brother MFC-7840W Three-In-One wireless printer, and about half of my books from med school. The others are still sitting in storage. (sorry for the mess)

I'll be ordering a wall mount this weekend for the screen, and getting rid of the fake plants for some real ones.

Dell actually ships the 2007FP in both silver and black, so no, no paint. ;)

I don't think they do here in the States. It seems silver is a product in the UK though.

I have the same setup, 30" ACD and two 2007FPs. I would love to get my hands on a silver bezel for them.
