Can the usb display adapter run a 20" cinema display? (1680x1050)

I'm not the original poster but ...

My home setup is a 17" MBP with 2 20" cinema displays running at that resolution. The second one is running using this USB adapter. It works pretty well (better with the latest round of mac drivers) but not as well as the normal monitor. Good to keep e-mail, twitter, etc. up on. It plays 480 video but start to lag beyond that.

I'll upload a better picture next time I'm home, but here it is.

Thanks for the response, I'd use it in portrait mode just for forums, mail, and itunes probably, as well as reference pictures, no video.

Might have a sweet idea for a new setup :p

Wondering because I know the DVI can't run things like an xbox so IDK

Yes it can run a 20" cinema display at full res.
There are some limitations though, full screen video is a bit jumpy, but works fine in a window, you can't take a screen shot on the display connected to it.
Any 3D things won't work, quartz extreme for example.

I just use it for application windows mainly and it is excellent!

I'm thinking about getting another one.

Is that vertical monitor a 20"? I'd love to do something similar.

Yes... I was originally running 4x20 with 1x30. It's an HP LP2065. "blakespot" was the one who figured out that model matches perfectly with the Apple 30".

Just a very basic setup for me. The 2010 Macbook Pro 13" 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB 5400RPM HDD, Nvidia Geforce 320M 256MB shared.

Just updated my setup with some speakers and a new Apple keyboard

Sorry for the cell phone pic...

Great setup! I think for your next upgrade you need to get yourself a pair of those new 27" Apple displays.

Also how do you feel using the Apple wireless keyboard and particularly the Magic Mouse for intensive creative work? I've tried it a little bit and I had a hard time getting over the lack of a proper right click and scroll wheel, just feel less productive with the Apple mouse. But I have to admit it's sure tempting since it looks so much better than the Logitech offerings. What's your battery life like?

Ok I would LOVE for you to do a video review of your embody chair. I've been desperately looking for some in-depth info on this thing as I'm trying to decide between that and the knoll generation chair. Also, where did you purchase yours and how much? Thanks so much and awesome setup!

Honestly it took a couple days to get used to, but now I can't live without it. I've also noticed my wrist has quit acheing completely. I guess cuz it's more flat than my logitech was.
