The MacPro with its external RAID (no internal drives). Silly fast; pushes 600-900 MB/s:

That's probably enough for now.

what interface are you using for the external RAID?

There's also a difference between getting things done for work (ie. separate, isolated tasks) and studying these days. Personally, when I'm studying for a big exam, sometimes it is just easier to have everything strewn about like that. Page flipping can become a chore when time is of the essence.

But given the fact that KandyKane appears to also have flyers, bills, money, etc. lying around... I'm guessing she COULD do with a bit of cleaning up. :)

I think of it the opposite actually. When working (at least at a professional level) you have to be much more agile and multi-task oriented than when studying. When studying you have a certain topic you are studying for at a time, with work you have multiple clients, superiors, subordinates, e-mails, IMs, phone calls, etc.

Either way, I don't see much on the top of that desk related to academics. It looks like trash, mail, bills, etc. Even if it was all school related there is no that is an efficient way to study.

Unfortunately in my program I'm sort of thrown into a curriculum where I need to synthesize information across lectures, topics and often courses as well.

I'll admit I'm never nearly as messy as KandyKane, but my desk can take on its own sort of disarray. :) I think it's just because it's too small though, and has too many electronics on it. I wish I had an iMac again!

How many pages do one of these threads have to go for before it turns into a new section? (as in part 13/14/15 etc).

I can imagine driving long distances must get very boring, so a MBP must be a great boredom buster and suchlike.

Can the usb display adapter run a 20" cinema display? (1680x1050)

Wondering because I know the DVI can't run things like an xbox so IDK

Is that vertical monitor a 20"? I'd love to do something similar.

13"? What specs? How long are you travelling for? Did you sell the i7? :)

The base model 13".
Yeah i sold my i7, thought the performance decrease would be really irritating, but this thing is fast! in many ways, a lot faster than the i7!
