I decided to do away with my old metal & glass desk due to the lack of space that it provided, as well as the continual headache of cleaning the glass (slightly OCD here).

Oh Lord. I'm continually cleaning mine. If I'm not dusting the top, I'm spraying windex on it. usually once a day. My lamp seems to magnify any dust particles and finger prints or marks from my arms. If it didn't look good, and I didn't just buy the desk this summer, I would be getting something new also.

did you hang the shelf onto the wall studs?
i wanr same shelf and not sure if i should get a stud finder to hang my shelf

Yes, I bolted it onto the studs. I'm sure you can hang it on standard dry wall (as indicated on the packaging/instructions), but I just really wanted to make sure it wasn't going to come crashing down on my equipment/me/my pets. I'm not planning on putting anything heavy up there, but the peace of mind was worth the $10 stud-finder I bought at the hardware store.

You can find studs the old fashioned way. slightly tap along the wall with a hammer until you hear a change in the tone. Then you know you hit a stud. Then there is a stud every 16 inches apart. Use a small finishing nail first to confirm that a stud is there, and then put your screw in at the height you need.

I just use a stud finder now. But the old way is still possible.

i will also use a magnetic stud finder my dad had in his tool box.
to make sure i found a stud, does it sound or feel different when hammering the nail into it?

Noo, don't drive a nail until you find the stud. Use the stud-finder after you've done the knocking exercise above to mark the edges and drive your nail in the middle.

Here is my setup. Everything that is marked is mine. All of the boxes are also mine. The iPad box was given to me, to add to my box collection. The PowerMac door is next to my display, because it has nice aesthetics. The aluminum iMac box belongs to my father's iMac. He also gave me the box to add to my box collection. All of the MacBook and MacBook Pro boxes belong to MacBooks/MacBook Pros that I own. Hidden behind the lava lamp is my trusty Airport Express, that I forgot to mark on the picture. The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 2G boxes belong to my iPhones. The iMac G3 box belongs to one of my iMac G3's (the Grape one, IIRC).

The image was taken with 9 individual shots, merged together with Photoshop CS5's photomerge function. It is also a 92 megapixel picture, after the merge.

Updated (cleaned) iMac G3 setup:

Sick water bottle. :p

Haha I know. Nothing better than water!

I think it looks awesome. Do you sit on a pillow on the floor? :)

Lol. There's a couch in front of the table. Don't no why I didn't have a pic of it. The first picture is my view while sitting down on it.

@Hydrocity you make call of duty videos and put them on the internet? :)

Yes I do, along with other games. Just a little side hobby.

YouTube channel is YouTube.com/xbgamingfilms

Having trouble getting known tho :(

Only thing wrong with this is the position of the TV, should switch the PS3 to the iMac when using the wheel (If its a 27")

That's exactly what I do. I have an Atlona HD620 for playing PS3 on the iMac, but I'm doing Bspec in Gran Turismo right now (its the mode where you act as team owner and don't drive), so I put it on the TV so I can monitor it while I surf the net. :D When racing, I always do it on the iMac screen.

I couldn't tell if that was B-Spec or Replay, still waiting for my copy of GT5, that's an ideal setup then, other than the lack of surround sound ;) how can you tell how close a car is behind? :p

Haha yeah surround sound would be nice. One day...

It's really useful for the races when you're the underdog, being able to block cars without looking away from the track is just genius. Really can't wait for my copy to arrive now!
