My lady's had that exact same lamp too; of course it melted when she added a regular bulb.

iCole, what is the machine to the left of your iMac? I notice the SNES style gamepad.

Hi. That's my good old Amiga 1200, with a massive HDD of 80mb, 14mhz and 2MB ram which I expanded to 50mhz and 6MB, a few years ago. Its from 1992 and I recently started messing with it again. Its has a PCMCIA cardslot so its possible to plug in memory cards and stuff so from time to time I try to find some interesting software online to play on it. Beats using an emulator :)
The SNES style gamepad was something i bought in the 90s without ever knowing what a SNES pad looked like. I never owned one then (i do now however ;-))

I noticed that too on this site. Some pathetic idiot(s) will down vote a positive comment on a setup, a post about buying an android or non apple product, or a negative comment on apple even though the point is valid.

No, I see a pattern. Postings on topic ("Post Your Mac Setup: Past & Present") are voted up. Postings off topic (again, that's "Post Your Mac Setup: Past & Present") are voted down.

It's somewhat irritating to click into the thread a read a page or two argument over speakers.

Edit: thanks for the votes.

A link to my recently updated and finally completed setup, other than more wire tidying, this is now finally completed.

I agree completely and I think I'll join. It's somewhat irritating to click into the thread a read a page or two argument over speakers. Hence this post has a picture of my setup.

I disagree completely. I enjoy a lively discussion, not a bland gallery. While I agree, it can be a little mundane to read through several pages about speakers, if I'm not interested I'll skip those comments. Not the end of the world.

Positive feedback is also necessary. Do you honestly think people would continue to post (never mind 15 threads of 2000 posts each) if they had no way of knowing anyone was looking at their setups? Feedback = incentive to post.

And of course, sometimes someone will post an impressive-looking piece of equipment, and someone will ask what it is. I have no problem with that either. I too would like to know what I'm looking at.

My 2¢.

Just on a random day - I like the portable style. Quite honestly, my apartment is almost to small to have a desk, but I'm looking to get an Imac soon also with a printer setup as well.

Why are peoples' posts being so heavily downvoted?

People are voting to show they like or dislike the setup shown. Just because someone has posted a photo of a Mac on a desk, we have to vote up? Some folk's setups are messy and tacky, so they are more likely to have people disliking their photo.

It's not the most up-to-date, I've made slight changes like another mouse and no more mouse mat, and activity monitor no longer takes a whole monitor for itself :)

I saw a recent discussion about black apple keyboards, just in case mine is the apple wired one with a black cover from http://www.kbcovers.com, and before that a 'checkerboard' version looking like the macbook keyboard.

What do you do for a living. From what I can see your applications/web pages open don't seem work related.

And do you actually need that many monitors for your job.

Don't get me wrong, my home office has four monitors if not five going at any time. I always find it curious for people to mention why they need X number of monitors.

That would be a great setup for stocks so I am going to guess that
EDIT: Joe, you beat me to it

What ever the reason, extra screens are just sooo useful. Even with just two it's great for browsing and watching some videos or writing and researching.

I'd recommend 2nd display for almost anyone who spends any serious amount of time on the computer.

**Coming from a 27" display and 20" display**

Very nice man! 99/100 a room with that much stuff in would look terrible and overcrowded but that looks amazing!

...I'll have my setup up soon
Thanks! The room is pretty small, so it has to be organized or it gets out of hand.

I love your setup.

Lots of color.. looks like you actually use it.
Thanks! Yeah, I use the room quite bit. Since the top monitor and receiver are hooked to the entertainment system in the living room, there is not shortage of options. I also use headphones (that you can't really see in the pic) quite a bit.

No need to need, wanting is enough for me.

I'm a software developer by the way, and though my colleagues manage to make do with what they're outfitted (cf. photos), I preferred to spend the extra mile for something I can enjoy working with day in day out.
