My Hack (I know it is frowned upon, but it is what drew me to get all the other Apple products). With 2 x 22" LG LED monitors. Apple USB k/b, MTP, MM and the logitech Performance MX. Speakers are logitech 5.1 and fully purchased OS X both SL and Lion.

What are the specs on your rig? I have an i7 920 running on a MSI x58m with 6gigs of ram.

When I created JoeG4, I had a Quicksilver G4 :)

Most frivolous purchase ever. On the awkward side, I've been using plastic Cinema displays for 10 years to this date (bought it near the end of Septermber 2001). As big a fan as I was of the UFO design, I'm beginning to get extremely bored of it and anxiously await the jump to something new.

With any hope, that'll be a 27" iMac ;) Probably next year..

Just out of curiosity..How much did this cost you?
Did you get the ram and stuff from apple?

No I did buy the ram from Apple, I got the ram from OWC for $400, Apple wanted $2,000 for their 32GB of ram

Two 27-inch Display with warranty-$2,400
Mac Pro dual 6-Core with ram upgrade-$8,000
Logitech Performance mouse-$109
Logitech Z906 $417
Wireless key & Magic Track Pad $150
Airport extreme $192

Spent: $11,268

i'm still not done thinking on upgrading to SSD next

"the man, with a lot of cash to burn," what's wrong with you? you don't just call people like that. Why the need to judge him because he spent some of his money?

Well, it didn't sound like he was being negative, and as for calling him out, it was his choice to show off how much money he spent - he kinda asked for it. I don't think it deserves any attack, but I don't think he was attacking him?

How's he judging him? He just stated the obvious.. the dude doesn't care to spend lots of money. There's nothing wrong with that.

Does anyone have any suggestions for relatively cheap LED light strips for putting behind monitors? I know the colored Ikea set can be had for around $40-$50. Lowes carries some white ones for about the same price. Is there a cheaper vendor for these? I have 4 monitors I would like to backlight.

ditto. I'm interested as well!

I know there are several stores in NYC that sold LED strips for ~$12/foot. That means the on-sale Dioder isn't that much more expensive per sqft.

Sorry to have offended you, but i don't mean to judge the man. I am just appreciating what he have. I am just guessing that he have much cash to throw and buy whatever he wants. I have nothing against the guy.

Did I say something judgemental about him? I even ask if he had the R34 that fyi, is a monicker for a Nissan Skyline GTR. We might have the taste.

Nicely done indeed! Nice to see this sort of respect to such a visionary.

Also a bit of a flag faux pas there with the US flag :) Should be mounted the other way around, stars (Union) on the left as you look at it, or the flags right.

Had a clean and tidy today. Could do with getting to work restoring this old desk.
