Are the LED light bars placed on the desk or the computer themselves? Where did you put all the cords?

They're actually placed on the desk, behind the black bars. The cords are also taped down on the bars. Since they're white, I used black tape so it doesn't show, plus they're flat cords, so that made it easier to conceal. It probably would've been much easier to do if it wasn't a glass-top desk.

I still have to figure out what to do with the power cord for the lights and the iMac but since I'm going to be adding speakers, I might as well do all of them at the same time.

Nope! I just got my iMac and desk today and found this out. Neither of the mice work on the glass. I've been using my (covered) iPad as a mouse pad until I can find two mouse pads I like.

Most mice won't work on glass. Logitech has 2 that uses a special tracking technology which works on glass.

I think Microsoft also has a similiar tracking technology on some of their mice.

The plan of moving in the near future wasn't going to come to fruition, and since I got a bunch of new toys, I'll post again:

Apple-stuff:

  • Mac Pro 1,1 with 2 2.66 GHz dual-Xeons, 8 GB FB-DDR2 and an HD6870, a 60GB Agility 3 en 3 regular old hard drives.
  • Macbook Air 2011, 1.6 GHz Intel i5, 4 GB DDR3, 128 GB SSD.
  • Macbook white 2007, 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo, 3GB DDR2 and 120 GB HDD.
  • The above are running on OS X 10.7.3.
  • iPhone 4 32GB iOS 5.0.1
  • iPad 2 16GB iOS 5.0.1
  • Apple TV 2G iOS 5.0.1 (of hoe ze het daar ook willen noemen)
  • These three have all been jailbroken, but I don't really do much with it on the iPad and the iPhone.
  • Peripherals: Airport Extreme with Time Machine disk (1 TB), Wireless and wired keyboard, Magic Trackpad, a customized Universal Dock called 'Frankendock' which fits almost anything including iPads, an iPad dock, and I probably forgot some stuff.

Audio:

  • Jean Marie Reynaud Twin Signature speakers.
  • Ultimate Ears UE-11 Pro earphones
  • Stax SR-202 headphones
  • (Crappy) Harman Kardon AVR130
  • Presonus Firestudio Mobile
  • (verstopt) Cambridge Audio Dacmagic
  • (verstopt) Final Audio S200 subwoofer

Video en games

  • Panasonic P42G20
  • 2x Dell U2312HM
  • Xbox 360 60GB
  • Playstation 3 120GB
  • Wii
  • A map of Skyrim

If there's any way to collapse the list, I'd like to know about it.

I have all the monitors hooked up to a Matrox TripleHead2Go. This way OSX thinks it is one wide-ass monitor. So the menu bar stretches across all the screens.

I just Googled that. Sounds like a much nicer solution than mine (USB to DVI adapter for the second monitor), which is subject to lag and useless for full-screen games. But it's also hella expensive

I use my MacBook opened to it can cool properly, but system thinks it is closed, because of little magnet on the left side.

That really is the nicest setup I've seen here...Just love the lighting, the tables everything.

Trouble is glass = dust, and my house is usually full of musicians and amps etc, which makes for even more dust....Great job though.

Hey,

if you don't need the money - keep it.
If you don't need 27"+15" keep your MBP closed.

I was in the same situation 3-4 years ago with the 24" ACD and I have decided to keep it - and I love it. It is just great for working, watching movies, .... Hopefully the MiniDisplay Port will be supported for a long time, so that I can use it.

Sorry for my poor english

If they want to keep supporting dvi and VGA, they'll have to.

Yea it definitely is. I picked mine up for $275. But this is really the only way to play games or watch 1080p movies without the lag. However, it's a quality product.

That's pretty neat, actually. What kind of paint did you use and how'd you create the black border on the glass panels?

black boarder was already there. you could use electrical tape for the boarder and paint over it.

I use valspar paint from lowes. you could use any point but just poly it when your done.

Very rough looking but I think it suits well for the student lifestyle! Standard ikea desk with a shelf me and my dad whipped up to give me more room.
