i had the same problem when i got the Thunderbolt display to put next to my iMac. its literally like 3/4" to low to have the sides match up. I got a piece of wood and sanded it down and and stained it and its perfect now.

Did you hook up the Thunderbolt display to a 27" iMac?

I would not expect the Thunderbolt display to be lower than an iMac, since they're both Apple.

I'm thinking of getting hold of a block of wood to make it a bit taller. I'll probably do that once I get hold of the new desk though.

Yea I never ever would have thought it was lower... I was shocked and a little disappointed. The block works well though so ill deal with it.

Current setup. Full spec 21.5" 2012 iMac.

Just recently got that monitor (HP Pavilion 22xi), and so I'll be getting a larger desk in the coming coupe of weeks. Just need to get rid of this desk and sort out how I'm going to get the new desk.

Once I do get the new desk, I'll post a picture, hopefully I'll be able to fit the rest of my stuff on the desk. I'm also going to be getting some speakers.

(Also, the monitor is about 4cm lower than the iMac, and I'm propping it up with books right now...anybody know a better solution? The books make it wobbly/uneven, and I need to return one of them.)

Love that HP monitor and love the setup! I gotta myself an iMac sooner or later.

But are are not for sale yet =/
And VEEERY expensive just to hide ONE cable (in particular my case)

Maybe at least move the monitor to the left side so the cable isn't running across the desk?

Or, if you're crazy, you can get a monitor with HDMI (I'm assuming that one doesn't have) and an Apple TV, then Airplay to the TV using AirParrot or some other app that will let you extend your desktop instead of just mirroring.

Actually, I dont need another monitor. This one suits me well.
I just dont like the cable coming out of my macbook pro. Its not as subtle as the magsafe connector.

The only reason this thread and similarly long threads are divided into parts at all is because vBulletin has trouble with threads over 2k posts. We're nowhere near 2k posts ;)

Looks like we're about 2/3rds of the way there... Perhaps in a few months we'll need a new one. ;)

Is there any other websites/blogs/tumblrs or other parts of the Internet where I can get more of this ie minimal displays with many some advice/tips/opinions on them. Mainly pictures but some written articles or pieces as well.

I decided to change again to the light. I liked the previous window thing, so I changed. It will stay like this. Speakers are now behind de desk and the mStand is removed. Simple.

Hardware wise the same (15" rMBP, Thunderbolt Display, iPad Mini & iPhone 5).

Love the desk - Any suggestions on where to find one similar in the states?

Absolutely no idea!

I honestly couldn't tell you with my grand canyon, hollywood sign, las vegas yosemite park sightseeing tourist knowledge.

The most 'locally' I've been was the home of Dutch relatives living in San Francisco!

When I live in the US (not that I ever will) for say 5 years, I'll let you know, ok?

Thanks for the comment!

Any particular reason you decided to stop using the mstand? Just curious as I just moved and am in the process of re-setting up my room and been looking to possibly buy this stand for my MBA/TBD.

Take a look on Etsy.

A lot of them will be more of a dining table, but you could request something more suitable for your needs.

Or best thing may be to find a local furniture maker to build something.
