This is my first post in this forum. I bought my first mac, a 2013 MBA 13", earlier this year and absolutely love it. I added a 27" monitor to my office for when I'm home.

Thinking about replacing it with a mac mini and using my iPad for working on the go, but no news of the new mac minis yet.

I have the same thought with you. Still craving for Mac Mini's upgrade while iPad is good to go along the way than MBA.

no, it's not a terrarium. but, you're right that those tiny specks are my fish. terrariums are cool, though. i've thought of it but i just don't have the space. i have another tank that wasn't pictured since it was on the other wall. so, if i add a 3rd tank, i'll have to sleep on the floor. lol.

here's a better closer shot of this tank:

Image

fish are cardinal tetras, endlers, otocinclus, siamese algae eater & dwarf shrimps; plants are bacopa carolina, dwarf baby tears, cypress helferi and cardinal plants.

the other 20 gallon long planted tank on the other wall:

Image

a 40 gallon breeder though is a perfect size tank for a terrarium. if i only have the space and the funds to make it. lol.

p.s. -- my apology for showing fish tanks in a computer desk forum but it's part of my "room."

Look closer...there's a "Post your Aquarium" thread in this forum already.

Well, Ive enjoyed these "post your setup pic" threads for quite some time. Ive made some recent additions to mine and feel its finally time to post my set up.

The G5 tower on the left was dead when I bought it. So I turned it into what a buddy of mine calls a "glorified plug strip" More plans for it in the future when I get a TB dock, external bluray drive, and some other goodies. The power strip isn't sitting level, because I mounted it to existing stand-offs in the case. The case itself is unmodified. I could, in theory, fix the solder joint on the logic board and put it all back together to be a fully functional system again.

The G5 on the right that is still under my desk, is on OSX 10.5.8, dual 2.3/2gig water cooled system. Its just for teaching myself more about Apple systems. (Im a new convert, been an Apple computer guy for just over a year now, Windows previously).

The G5 next to that is a dual 1.8/1.5gig air cooled system, also on OSX 10.5.8, and I am trading it to the buddy I mentioned earlier for an AMD windows 7 system, just to play around with. Ive actually never used any version of windows past XP. He's never used an Apple machine before, so this should be an interesting trade.

Also in the picture is my former XP system on the far left. A Pentium 4 3.0/4gig system.

The 13" cMBP is a mid 2012 model, and was my very first apple computer and what started all of this obsession. It is my main system, and serves iTunes to two ATVs in the house.

On the shelves are some storage boxes for my charcoal drawing and another for random cables and bits and pieces. Between them is the daughter board and LCS from the 2.5 G5 that I gutted. And of course my 2TB Time Capsule that I have as a destination for Time Machine on both my MBP and G5.

The (sideways for some reason) picture of a QR code is for guests, since my office doubles as our spare room, it gives everyone the name and password for our guest wifi network.

And, the panorama picture of the room is from 3 days ago, when I was putting this all together. I managed to acquire all 3 G5 systems over the course of the last week, from different sellers, for less than $200 total. Two of them even came with the original boxes/packaging.

The monitor is a 27" Acer, complete with Ikea Dioder lights. For the price, I love this monitor.

Sorry for the long post, but Im pretty proud of my set up. Any questions/comments/criticism is welcome.

The QR code for the name and password of your network is a awesome idea i may try myself. How you go about doing it?

I don't see how some people keep an office this clean.

I think some of us (myself included) take the picture right after cleaning. Although others are OCD* enough to keep them that clean all the time. (And OCD people do seem to be attracted to Apple gear, so there are probably a higher proportion of them here...)

*Or, as I prefer to say: CDO. It's like OCD, but with the letters in alphabetical order as they should be!

Now have everything as I want it...Missing from the pictures are my flight yoke and instrument panels which we've yet to permanently attach.

Very nice! (Love the Intel bunny man hiding in there. I used to have the same "metallic blueish" one until the dog chewed him up.) Is the desk to the left where the flight bits are going, or is a keyboard going there? (I need to get a good flight setup myself...)

Slight update to my desk, moved the iMac G4, moved my speakers, moved the stereo, router, modem, and printer as well. Much happier with this until I can get my oversized corner desk!

No past setup, only a present since this is my first mac.
Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad, 13" rMBP i5/8/256 and Dell U2412M. Hopefully I will either get a 1440p display or another U2412M since I'm very happy with it but one can always get more desktop space! :)

What desk is that? If you don't mind sharing?

The macs are kinda all in 1 spot, but they still count! :)

I bought another dvi to adc adapter, so now I can use the 20" with my desktop too! Dual screens are awesome, although I admit I still haven't quite figured out the ergonomics of it.

lol I feel like a "post your mac setup" thread wouldn't be right without macnerd93 or myself updating it xD

The yoke and instrument panel will be mounted in front of the iMac. The KB under the cover to the left is my Novation midi SLK MK 2
