You would be surprised how sturdy those things are. Given how it's made, I bet it's as sturdy, if not more sturdy than some of the desks you can get out of somewhere like IKEA.
Pretty much nailed it. People are surprised on how strong/rigid a properly designed structure can be, even if it is made of plastic parts.

Although I must say I would be wary of a desk made out of K'NEX, aren't you worried that if one part of them breaks the entire desk may no longer be stable?
Based on prior experience building with K'NEX I knew that the structure would be way overkill for what it has to do, which is support about 30LBS of glass and probably 20LBS of monitor/speakers split between 4 legs. Picture attached is my 200LB+ self sitting on the tabletop with my entire weight supported by one of the legs without issue. I'm pretty happy with a safety factor of 16, probably much greater. Honestly, I'd be more worried about the glass breaking before having issues with the legs.
