Hello together,

I like to browse this thread to get new inspirations. My current setup is a 15" Retina MacBook Pro and an iPad Air.

I also tried an 27" monitor from Asus.

It has a nice appearance, but the 1080p pixel density is just not my thing after getting both devices with retina display. Saving money for the upcoming Thunderbolt Display.

Thanks - I had it before .. how on earth did I not recognise it :) ... do you use it for research or writing?

Both. I am writing a book and I also study. I started using it maybe two months ago and I was like *mindblown* just the best writing software I have ever used. So perfect for me :)
It's weird all this awesome software that exists that I never really heard of until I entered the apple universe. I just was not a Windows person.

LOVE this setup! The brick next to the desk perfects it :D

My first picture with my new MacPro 2013.

I just miss the design of Apple.. All of the other Macs and their huge brushed aluminum bodies are stunning, then there is a cylinder. I do understand its a great machine but I wish it had a better design

Just cleaned up. Still need to get rid of some of the shortcuts on my desktop and go trough the textbooks on the left and other stuff.

I hate you. :p

Very nice machine. What's the performance like? I'm assuming it's unbelievable?

The main reason for me was that my older MacPro was nolonger upgradeable. I've had it since 2006 and it was working fine for what I did with it but I wanted to upgrade to Mavericks and it would not let me. This was my signal for 'time to go'. I took all my drives out, put in a 2TB new drive, put in install disc and loaded up to my Snow Leopard disc and gave to my brother. He will never use pass the 2TB. I loaded on all his music and my old Pro has retired to host his iPad.

I am now in the process of re-downloading my Calibre library of over 10,000.00 ebooks, endless magazine, comic and pdf collections. After that I have my movie (over 500) and TV show collections. About 8TB worth of stuff. For me the fun is in ripping my DVDs, putting them away and never touching them again. Ripping is faster but I think that is more because I have 12GB RAM now and I used to only work with 4.

Yes, that is an Alien Queen sitting on my Drobo.

A New Year, A New Layout

So earlier today I totally stripped out my room and moved the shelf and desk around. I've never had it at this angle before and so far I'm loving it. I've just got a new more comfortable office chair (should arrive on Monday). My current one is just a bit too rock hard. The new one is in the mid century Barcelona style.

Also my parents got me a couple of model helicopters for Christmas as a mini stocking fillers. In the top part of the shelf. Highly amusing, especially the one with a camera. Even if I am almost 21

I'm also thinking about getting a Newgate Pluto Sunburst clock for above the desk I hate empty spaces :)

Really love the shelf and the Knoll Tulip like chair. I'm sure the Barcelona style will be great as well.

I see that you have many other peripherals that come with your Mac devices, care to further elaborate on those toys as well?

Oh yes of course, thanks for asking. I've got some devices that's part of my humble mac setup. Here's the list....

1) Line 6 Toneport UX2 - A simple recording interface for me to record down my riffs when i keep as archive or to share with my bandmates. Just a direct plug-in of the guitar is fine

2) Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 - A high-end recording interface where i do serious recordings which i mic up the Amps for recordings.

3) Audio Engine A2 - I close friend of mine, a nerd with a hyper obsession pertaining to Mac products, i call it, iDisorder, introduced me to this speakers. Till today i've no regrets buying it, in fact it's one of the best sounding speakers i have ever came across and highly recommend it.

4) Audio Engine D1 (DAC) - Newly bought DAC, on the same day i posted this picture. Recommended by my nard buddy. Coincidence he shares the same name as your nick. His name is just Calvin though.

All i can say it, The mac and Audio Engine goes really well together :apple:

Got it about 10 years ago from a Car Boot sale, a guy was selling loads I really wanted a California State Licence plate, but they were the old dark blue and yellow didn't like them as much as the white and red CA plates, but he didn't have any of those.
