My new monitor! Yay! Unfortunately, the Amazon retailer didn't put the foot into the packet. So, it's kinda useless and goes back to Amazon. Doh.

My first impression - I thought that was one heck of a touch panel...:eek:

Looks like the Linnmon 1.2m desk that's €20, with Alex drawer unit €65.

I have the 1.5m linnmon with alex, and ulrik at the back.

Thank you! I didn't realize that ikea had many deep desks aside from the Galant. I guess I'm going to have to expand my search from computer desks to tables in order to find a more comfortable working depth.

Ikea used to sell it as the Vika Amon, but redid a few things - I really like how you can mix & match the tops and legs (or put drawers or shelves instead). They even have adjustable legs if you want a desk that can be a standard height or a standing desk. The other nice thing is that if you get the cheaper tops and they eventually wear or you want to change to something else, you can just migrate the old hardware and legs over to the new one.

I added a small shelf on the far left end of my desk for things like external hard drives and other stuff with a couple of these and a shelf from the scratch-and-dent section: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10168720/ Someone could attach that along the back edge of a desk for storage behind a monitor/iMac, too.

I may be double dipping here, but I finally wrapped up the remodel of my office and wanted to post the final results. My previous post was the past, so I guess this is the present?

Gear:
Custom PC inside a Silverstone Fortress with a Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard, a watercooled 4770k, 32gb of Dominator ram, 2x eVGA Superclocked 780GTX's, a Neutron GTX 480gb SSD for the OS's (Windows 8.1 and Linux), coupled with a 1TB and 4TB WD Green for storage. Keyboard is a Quickfire TK (includes the numerical keypad, as I often code on my PC when browser testing); mouse is the amazing Logitech G502. Using a set of Astro A50's for sound, and an Xbox One controller for non-FPS controller enabled games. Monitor is a Viewsonic VP2770, soon to be replaced by a BenQ BL3200PT (a 10bit 32" VA panel, arriving Saturday).

Next to this is a Cintiq 22HD, both it and the PC monitor are on Ergotron arms.

The rMBP is the 2.3ghz, 16gb of ram, 512gb SSD model with the dedicated GPU.

iMac is the slim model from late 2012. I opted out of grabbing the new Mac Pro until later, as the performance of the iMac is still tip top, and I'll simply never use the power of the GPU's in the new Pros.

In front of the iMac sits an Apogee Duet2 audio interface; I use this for recording my Guitars, my Axiom Pro 61, and my drums. There is an Intuos Pro Medium (replaced an old Intuos5 Large for portability), and two 3TB LaCie Thunderbolt Drives on the desk. Keyboard is a Das Keyboard Mac Edition, coupled with a Logitech G700. The speakers are a pair of Yamaha HS80M Studio Monitors, with the HSW10 sub (not used during monitoring, because bass); I'm also running a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 cans, which I use for vocal mixing and mastering.

Printer/Scanner is the Brother MFC-J6920DW. It's great for 11x17 printing and scanning. As I often do comic inking work, this thing is a mainstay for me, as I can scan my pencils, quickly turn them into blue line, and print that blue line on heavy bristol board using the rear feed. (If anyone is in need of an 11x17 printer/scanner, this model comes highly recommended, and has replaced a separate scanner and printer that combined cost well over 5k.)

Couch and ottoman are from Ikea. Guitars and Bass are Schecters. Desks (I like hard wood -- there's probably a meme here) are two Hamlyn desks from Ashley.

I am in love with iDutchman's setup -- the simplicity and cleanliness are awesome. Great work man!

the walls look black but not as black as the sofa. are the walls actually a dark matte gray or is the walls really a matte black.

The walls are actually a medium matte gray, they're a bit lighter than they appear in the picture, and during the daytime the colors contrast really well. Unfortunately my office window faces the sun during my working hours, and the previous wall color just made it way to bright for me. The dark colors make it much more tolerable when I work during the day, and at night when I game it's perfectly lit.

I tried this with my MBA 2012: MBA <> TB Display <> HDMI monitor, didn't work at the time?

The iMac G4 17" is actually the external monitor I tried to use in combination with my TB Display and MBA. I do have to mention trying this setup was before Mavericks if that makes any difference.

So you have this working as an external monitor instead of the original G4?

Nice setup! I suspect you do use the sound link as a speaker while at the desk or is it just placed there? I'm contemplating getting rid of my old 2.0 speakers and replacing them with a sound link but i'm not sure if it is any good at this distance placed right in front of me while sitting at my desk.. Any thoughts?

It is indeed. Phenomenal monitor and everything that's made in 16:9 seems off now. :p

You are very lucky. I dont have a pc to power it and it would look ridiculous next to my imac. It seems perfect for your mac pro. I would have wall mounted it and hide all the wires though.
