I really like that - functional, no clutter.

I'd be interested to know how you use your setup? Do you find there's a lot of overlap between the roles of the MBP/iPP?

There is indeed a bit of overlapping, but not so much. I use the notebook every time I make serious work (coding, virtual machines, multimedia - especially photography). For all these occasions I use the MacBook, and I prefer to use it attached to the monitor... I only use it without monitor from 20 to 30%...

The iPad Pro is my consumption device on the go and also my device for taking notes and plan my ToDos. I use OneNote for all of my notes, protocols... and TickTick for all the ToDos. The iPad Pro is the device that I always take with me and my preferred device for Internet when I am not in front of my MacBook attached to the monitor.

Nice - very similar to my use case. I'm considering updating my iPad 2 - it's currently being used as a 3rd monitor in my setup as it's not much good for anything else these days!

great setup

I'm "dating" the dell 8k monitor (up3218k) for some time, but researching about it, seems the macos does not work well with that resolution (8k) ..... what resolution are you using in the macos (is high sierra?)? It's 60hz? and the scale (@1x,@2x,@3x)? Which connection (displayport 1.4, hdmi 2.1) do you use?

Sorry for the many questions

What speakers are those? Do you like them?

Those are Edifier Luna HD's - I've owned a set myself, as well - Not bad at all, especially when setup correctly they have incredible bass response and superb high's.

They just came out with a 2.1 variant - but only in red at the moment..No idea why.

Just finished the 3rd major upgrade on my 2009 Mac Pro. This time I upgrade my 27" ACD to the Samsung 49" CHG90. It's a ultra wide monitor (32:9), effectively joining two 27" 1080P monitor together without any gap. Even though the resolution may be considered a bit low today, but it work flawlessly. Downgrade from 1440P to 1080P make everything looks larger on the screen. When I upgrade from the 24" ACD to 27" ACD few years ago, the very first thing I realised is that even the monitor is bigger, everything on the screen actually look smaller. And since 1440P is not "retina", if I use it to run 1080P HiDPI, everything will looks blurry. Eventually, I often lean forward to read the screen. This is not comfortable at all. But now I can sit back, relax, and still able to read everything clearly on the screen. It's a gaming monitor, 144Hz, so, mouse pointer movement or scrolling etc looks very smooth. And I like the back light very much as well.

I have a 34" LG Ultrawide coming today that is (I think) 3440 X 1440. How did you get yours to run @ 1080? Was that an option available in sys prefs, or are you running some other piece of software to achieve that?
