Updated setup with the 2018 MacBook Air.
@@macdotcom I really like that desk with the cable routing out the back like that. Really clean setup. Even the kid's shoes are lined up perfectly.

But where are the cables/power for the lamp, the MacBook (Pro/Air), the monitor, etc). That's TOO clean...
Exactly right - I drilled holes and added black grommets under the lamp and under the MBP to route cords. The lamp’s power cord is on the bottom so there’s no cord visible at all. Glad you like the clean look - me too! Thanks!

Which ikea counter top is that? I love it!

A thin layer of real walnut surrounding particle board inside. The walnut veneer is arranged in a zig-zag pattern that I thought looked cool.
Like many Ikea countertops, it comes in either 74" or 98" lengths. I wanted to maximize the size for my wall, which is about 90" wide, so I went with the 98" and cut one side with my 20v cordless circular saw. I bought a high-quality blade meant for finish work, along with a couple of other techniques, to minimize any splintering. I was worried about screwing it up, but it went fine.

The only thing I don't like about my current setup is the silver USB cord from the keyboard, I'm considering trying to wrap it in electrical tape but not sure that will make it any better...
I bet you could spray paint it pretty easily and you'd never know it wasn't black from the factory.
I have considered that.. I have the mouse from the same era that I'm not using, it has similar cable so I could test a few things on it. One thing I thought about is trying to color it with a black sharpie or similar perm marker. I think that will allow it some translucency like the keys have.
Drill a hole in the desk and thread it through underneath the keyboard?
Or some black heatshrink maybe?

Or you could just buy a wireless keyboard!
I do have a Logitec wireless kb with backlight, however I've been wanting to use this one for a long time. This one has a pretty nice feel to it and its kind of fun being able to utilize one that is so old - it came with my PowerMac G4 Digital Audio (I think it was originally with those, however I bought it used back in like 2005 so not 100% sure).
