I'm going from an iMac Pro to a MBP M1 as I like the fact that I can take the MBP along with me when I do photograpy and not tied down to one area all the time.

New Setup

Old Setup

I still have my old setup, but I am eventually got to get rid of it. However that won't be until I get everything that I want on the MBP.

I am really like this Philips 279P Monitor which I was little hesitant in buy, but this has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Though I don't like the feel of the monitor itself as it feels really plastic making it feel cheap... well it is a monitor on the cheaper side, but I have put LEGO sets together that has a better feel. 🤣

Nice G-Drive stack ;D How are you feeling the performance difference between the iMac Pro and the M1 MBP in your specific usage?

Hello,

We share a desk between us, my wife uses the screen during the week for work, while I plug in my personal Mac when I need more space. It's an old Dell 24" IPS panel from 2012 which is still better than what our company uses in the office.

My current setup is the late 2013 13" MBP and the Dell U2412HM (I think?). I am looking to upgrade to a newer Mac, but up until now I could not find anything that I like. An M1 iMac would be nice, but unfortunately it can't be used as an external display, and we don't really have the space to fit in both the iMac and a screen. I was considering the M1 notebooks, however Apple have cut a lot of the perks they had in pre-USB-C laptops. The M1 Pro looks interesting, although pricey. I might need to see it in person to make up my mind.

Please find the picture attached. Hope you enjoy.

Wow!

Big desk, is it a sit/stand as well?
How do you like that Dyson lamp?! Those look sweet wish multiple colours was an option on those.
The desk is indeed a sit/stand desk. A german company named inwerk makes them... Really solid (no wobble, even in the highest position)
As for the Dyson lamp... I really like the design and am really happy with the functionality (the lamp auto adjust the light temperature depending of the daytime).

My strange but cozy setup. Yes I am a big kid that likes his hot wheels and Star Trek ;) .

  • Monitors are basic 28" Asus 4K LCD monitors. Waiting for BF sales to replace with dual 4K HDR monitors and move these to other rooms.
  • Input 1 on both goes to my tried and true 12 core cMP 5,1
  • Input 2 on both are going to my Windows / Linux gaming computer on the floor opposite side of the desk on the floor.
  • I use the Right monitor's 3rd input for my M1 MacBook Pro when I need a larger screen.
  • Old Pioneer stereo in the cabinet is functional, but only used for music listening out of the Mac Pro at times.

Usually have a MacBook Pro + iPad Pro as a sidecar screen flanking the keyboard on the lower desk when active doing creative work. Now just sitting back on the small couch behind where the shot is taken and watching some video.

I actually like the HotWheels. Shows personality.
Is that a Marantz Stereo/Amplifier on the bottom shelf just left of the Power Mac G5??!!

... and let's see where it all started. Although I don't have a picture of my first setup, below is the second iMac that I had. See attached as of 2002. It seems to me that back in the day we've had a lot of stuff around the computer itself. Remember the "Digital Hub"?Although I have a picture from a few years before this was taken, back when this room was used as an office and was much more full than this. I hope you enjoy!

This was my dream set-up in the early 2000s. I feel warm and fuzzy just looking at it. Lighting is on point too.
