At least it's probably better than my trash 21.5" TN panel HP N223 that has a loose HDMI port (constantly loses connection), that I never have gotten around to replacing.
I swear I have the HP N223 somewhere at home, I use it for my 68K Macs via a VGA adapter :D

Yep, the N223 is the worst monitor I've ever used (blacks are almost gray). I just bought it because I desperately needed a monitor. And now as you can see in my signature I have like 7-8 monitors, but they all are pretty bad and I just use them for test machines.

Anyway, I sometimes use Sidecar with my MBA, but it often glitches out. Glad you have it working though.

How is the quality compared to a MacBook and iMac? I have a mpb and an iMac, and I want to sell my iMac and use this monitor with my mbp, but I’m afraid I will get a headache from looking on a non retina monitor…
IT's good. I moved from an retina iMac to a 32inch 4k and now to this and both have been sharp and not blurry at all. People say they can see a different in the pixel density but I honestly can't see it. Plus its bigger and has a slightly higher refresh rate which is perfect for my needs over an iMac.

Here's an extreme close up of how text looks. sitting a metre away from the screen it doesn't look "non retina" at all. the resolution, I believe is retina and scaled

That looks nice!! Do you use a magic keyboard and trackpad with that? How does it sync/connect with Bluetooth? Do you have to set it up every time or does it just work instanstly?

It just works instantly. I use a mechanical keyboard, a Logitech mouse and a Magic Trackpad. All works as it should

Airpods don't have anything to do with an external monitor. If you are using your macbook and iphone and airpods with one iCloud account, they still connect to your macbook, not the monitor. The monitor is just an external display.

LMFAO, true. I'm sorry, I didn't connect the dots. I've always used an iMac or Macbook, but never a Macbook with a monitor before so it's a whole new world for me. I've just ordered the LG 40wp95C and I'm trying to get my brain around how it works beforehand.

Here's a really important question!!! So, when I connect my MacBook to a monitor it "creates" an external desktop, right? What if I was in the middle of writing something in Word on my Macbook, I then connect it to my monitor, and my external screen pops up... Can I continue writing in that document? Or does it create a new Word document? I hope I'm making sense... And let's say I left a browser with some tabs open on my MacBook. From my external display, can I continue viewing that same browser with those same tabs?

Your external monitor can either be an extension of your MacBook or iMac. So it’s possible to drag a window, say a word document from one screen to the other.
Or you can set it up to duplicate your other screen.
But it works really seamlessly. Your document and apps are controlled by the OS. So even if you disconnect or connect a screen halfway through a task, it doesn’t change the document.

An external monitor doesn't do anything other than display what is on your MacBook, it doesn't become it's own new Mac.

It's quite simple: if you connect an external monitor to your computer (be that windows or mac), it creates nothing more than extra screen real estate. If you unplug your external monitor, everything you saw on that screen will move back to the screen of your Macbook.

Your work/documents live on your computer, not your screen. Thus, if you connect an extra screen, this won't do anything with your work.

I really don't want to be rude, but you do know how a computer works? A monitor is nothing else than say a "window" into your computer. If you connect an external monitor, it just creates an extra "window" through which you can view your work.

No, I just learned how to go on the potty yesterday. I'm a work in progress

The reason why I'm a confusing mess is that I tried connecting my MacBook to my LG smart tv, and for some reason, it won't let me continue browsing the same safari window from my mac, it just opens a whole new window on my smart tv. So, I didn't experience that I could continue my work on a monitor.... but perhaps it just works differently on a smart tv.

The reason im asking was because it kept creating new windows of safari when I tried connecting it to a smart tv. It didn't let me continue my browsing from my mac. I hope my dumb questions are justified now, lol

are you worried about burn in. seems like a static desktop with icons would be the worse thing for a oled screen.
No if you take a little Care its should not be a Problem in 2022.... like auto swapping Backgrounds all 5min's and Dock,Menubar auto-hide

No such thing as a dumb question.
When you connect your TV, try dragging an application from your Mac screen to your smart TV screen. If it works it’s set up as an extended desktop.
If it shows the same thing on both screens, it’s set up to mirror displays.
You can choose between which option you prefer in the settings under display.
