This is what the cave looked like circa 2012..

Was able to finally complete my Al Gore setup. I know these monitors are old and when comparing to modern 4-5k monitors in my PC setup they blow these ACD's out of the water but somehow I always get attracted back to using them even if their resolutions are not that high anymore. Somehow they are easy on the eyes this matte style display.View attachment 2093490
That was my dream setup back when I was at Uni - Apple's product design of the early 2000s was something else. It's not much different now only more iterative with a missing reality distortion field.

I have the new setup planned and should be ready before I get the MBP though the setup idea could change a little bit. Mac Pro is in the closet as I don't have room for it.

When I got my first Mac: refurbished mid-2011 21.5 in December 2011 (ignore the speakers—they were for the work laptop)

Still kicking almost 12 years later with a new 1tb SSD and now running Monterey thanks to OCLP (not the primary system anymore, but still plenty quick for household use, HomeBridge server, and home sharing the movie library to the Apple TVs):

@Cosmo M3 That's a really nice setup. What monitor is that?

I've been considering switching to a similar setup—with a laptop stand and "floor" speaker stands, I just haven't had the motivation to buy that equipment!

It's one of the LG Ultragear gaming monitors.

This was peak Apple. Time Capsule/AirPort Extreme types of products, selling their own branded AA batteries. They cared about every object you interacted with along the computing journey. My how we’ve lost the plot. Lovely setup

Just made some more modifications to my desk setup. Now with a MacBook Air M2 and an old 24" HP screen. Just got a Logitech Mechanical Mini for Mac keyboard and it's a great keyboard so far.

Still not 100% done, have some more things on the wish list, such as Kensington Wireless Trackball (getting rid of the USB cable) and a laptop stand.

My rather minimal set up, since we moved house, and I have a whole attic now to work! :)I am noticing lately, that when I am not working, i tend to not plug in my Monitor, even if it's Usb-C.

It took a long time and a bit of savings, but I finally have a new setup and renovated room that I'm happy with. The cube to the left is were I keep all of my desk accessories (router, external storage, etc.) so for the first time everything is wired (including internet).

  • MacBook Pro 14" (2021)
  • Apple Studio Display
  • Vari Electric Standing Desk 60" x 30"
  • Etsy custom deskpad
  • CyberPower UPS 1500VA
  • OWC Thunderbay 4 mini (20TB SSD)
