I just picked up the Dell P2715Q 27" 4K monitor for my desktop workspace. So I work both in my apartment and out on location lots too, so I keep this simple desktop set up for when I get back in with the rMBP.

Where did you get the monitor stand? I'm looking for something like that.

I get it, it's not centered :) Just took a quick one while putzing around with the camera. Not pictured is the MacBook Air sitting in my work bag.

Finally replaced my ageing 1,1 Mac Pro with something a little more modern. My first hackintosh. Running rock solid stable under Yosemite. Everything aside from audio worked out of the box - I was so surprised at how easy it's got to get OS X on pretty much any half-modern system these days. Specs below, all for a lower price than a baseline Mac mini. Crazy.

Chuffed with the cable management, too.

- Zalman CNPS5X 92mm Tower-Cooler
- 8GB Patriot Signature DDR3 1333MHz Memory (2x4GB)

The workstation in our new house. Needs more prints on the walls and the mandatory cable management.

That a cool workstation dude.... Though the cables @&£&& ......ur still capture is really good.. Looks natural...

Wanted to post an update to my current setup - you might notice that monstrosity in the center. Local Craigslist pickup - it's an Acer B286HK UHD monitor. There is a small amount of backlight bleed when viewing dark, solid colours, but for the price I couldn't pass it up. Have to say - OS X scales higher resolutions significantly better than Windows. Disappointed, Microsoft.

From a usability standpoint, OS X has better display & desktop management all around. The Windows AMD/Nvidia add-on apps do okay.

That's the reason I couldn't make the switch, honestly. For the first few months, there was no way to boot OS X on X99, and using Windows full time was a nightmare...

Mint 12" PB G4 and 17" PB area

Maybe I overpaid for this lil 12" G4 PowerBook at £109, but the condition is outstanding. Its a 2004 1.33Ghz model, without a mark on it. Its got 1.25GB RAM, DVD superdrive and the original 60GB HD which I will upgrade, although it seems to be working fine. Battery also holds a good two hours of charge. Guy I bought it from only used it around the house and so saw no use as a traveling laptop.

Yes, the phone works and is connected to my phone line :)

I also put my Xbox 360 and PS3 in storage earlier and did a bit of a rearrangement to my media area. This was so I had space to accommodate my mint 17" PowerBook G4. The specs are 1.5Ghz PowerPC G4, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD, 500GB External. I have installed Tiger on it as it had no operating system on, working like a charm. Been nice to setup the old skool Apple bluetooth keyboard & mouse and Griffin Elevator. I've owned this PB for quite a few months now, but never got use of it because it took up so much space, so its nice to have a little area for it. I paid £65 for it as it came with a dead hard drive, upgrade has worked fantastic though.

Just had some custom tables built for our office. We drew them up and had them built to spec. Turned out great.

lol one time I went to a ruby meetup hosted by an office that had an eerily similar layout. Same cabinets too. I like your tables better though, they look less crowded.

Still looks a little too close together for me lol.

I like those cabinets though. I kinda want one for my desk at home, they're just spendy.

Hopefully the recent addition of more accessible storage will help keep the area clean(er) for a little longer than in the past... :)

Is your desk mount clamped on? The location makes me think it isn't, but the part sitting on the desk looks too small to not be a clamp-on.

It's not edge-clamped, but through a 3/8 inch hole that I drilled. I'm not fond of edge clamps and it wouldn't work for this setup anyway-- the displays would be too far away.

----------

Where did you get the desk?

Ikea-- it's a mishmash of parts from the now [unfortunately] discontinued Galant-- corner desk, large half round, extension, another homemade extension and various frames.

----------

How is it rolling around on that carpet without a plastic mat?

I don't know whether it's this particular carpet or the wheels on my chair, but rolling on this carpet isn't much of an issue-- much much better than any other instance of carpet vs. chair in my past.

I hate plastic mats because they break apart and start to look horrible/yellow in no time at all.

Because of that, I purchased a too-expensive glass floor mat and it would -- or should-- be ideal, however it turns out the floor isn't quite level so I roll backwards if I try to use it.

So... the choice is no mat at all or an ugly semi-rigid plastic mat. It's a lot easier to roll on this carpet than it is trying to roll around on a plastic mat that's started to break apart-- and this looks better.
