Picked up a 2007 iMac for cheap (couldn't resist) which had 1gb of ram and had OS X 10.5 / Windows 7. Upgraded the ram with a 2gb chip (3GB now) and then the OS to Mountain Lion but kept Windows 7. Connected my E-Blue Cobra Jr mouse, Logitech K750 keyboard and Logitech X120 speakers. So far it's a quick machine and runs great!

Put an SSD in there and you'll be amazed how quick it gets

I normally would but the process sounds way more involved then in my other macs, i'm a bit hesitant to take the screen off and perhaps damage the unit.

oh, and that turtle poster on the wall, did you take the photo yourself or it can be bought!? Thx
Hello, i was using the Ae A5+, it sounds good but i buyed a pair of Presonus Eris E8, it sounds awesome. Presonus better than Audio Engine exactly. I would definitely recommend the presonus eris e8, not ERIS E5. I will post my mac setup soon.

it's actually much easier than the 2009+ iMacs. I put a Samsung 830Pro in my 2007 with 6GB RAM and it's a surprisingly quick little machine.

Ah nice mate! Your signature indicates that you have a second MacBook Pro, I'm curious of what model, if you don't mind me asking.

My second is a 15-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2008; 2.4 GHz C2D, 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD). Planning to put an SSD in it which should make it nice and snappy with El Capitan :)

What apps are you using (left / right)?

On the left it's just Safari with my universities BlackBoard environment, and on the right it's Microsoft Word for Mac 2016 (Beta) as has been said :)

Thanks for posting that. That's quite a nice setup, where'd you get that desk? It's quite nice.

I purchased this Malm desk this past weekend. Still need a monitor and chair. Which monitor do you have in the picture?

It's an IKEA MALM desk, but I'm not sure if they're still in the stores :#

I believe that's the Galant. I have the same desk in my basement.

How do you like it? I'm trying to find something that won't take up too much space and will have room for 2 24-27" monitors, an iMac, a subwoofer, and potentially a MacBook Pro stand and external hard drive.

I like it. Simple and sturdy. In that image there is a 23" display and a 24" display. There's room for everything you said, especially if you're willing to have a monitor hang over the edge. But you could fit 2 27" displays completely within the dimensions of the desk, but I like to have one monitor directly in front of me. There is a mini cable shelf under the desk toward the back where I keep my external hard disk.
