I'm loving it, to be honest. 4k is a bit overrated at the moment, in my opinion. I have no use for it currently, nor do I feel like spending the extra money for something that I find unnecessary in the first place.

May be great for some, but I'll never take full advantage of it. At least, not yet. I'm still rocking a 1080p TV and I love it just fine as well.

The monitor I am using is the best one I've ever used. Never had a full HD monitor before. Always had sub HD laptop PC displays that were merely adequate.

Hmm okay. Well I ask cause I have a rMBP. Would the pixels be noticeable on a standard 1080p display vs a "retina"-like screen?

I don't find them to be all that noticeable at all. But, then again, I've never used a Retina display. This is the best display I have used, and I find it to be very clear with a beautiful image.

I have 2 iMacs sitting side by side on my desk. One is a 5K Retina, the other one has a standard 24" panel. Even at lower resolutions, using glasses, I cannot make out a single pixel on the 5K display, it really is that good. I can see the pixels on the older machine but really only because I am looking for them; adjusting my vision normally to just concentrate on what I'm doing on-screen, it's not an issue.

Hi there! May I ask where you got that desk. It is awesome!!!! PS Love the Cube.

I second that question. I think the other table and the bookshelf beside the desk all match.
[doublepost=1494608291][/doublepost]Hello. Not sure if I have ever posted my setup before but here it is. The first picture is my original setup. Then I got an LG 27UD58 4K monitor. I've tried it a few different ways so it's still kind of a work in progress. The CDs are still being uploaded but will be moved eventually. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for viewing.

This, I believe, was in 2010.

This is me modding a Xbox, since the disk drive wouldn't read discs.

And this is my room now. A lot has changed, it's sooooo cozy now!

and yes, I still love and use CRTs....

Nice - you have a Super Famicom! Nothing like playing SNES games on the original hardware.

This is still my main computer at home. Early 08 MBP, firewire 800 external hard drives, and a Dell monitor. Not fast at all anymore, but I'm willing to wait on my soon-to-be 10 year old trusty steed.

Loved that MBP. Still the best keyboard and form factor. I don't care for the super thin versions of today. Wish I still had my 2011 MBP.

it supports up to 2560 x 1440. With SwitchresX, you can easily adjust your settings, to take advantage of the 2560x1440, while looking at a crisp 1920 image.

How do you find the quality of the Dell monitor? I'm looking into an external monitor for my rMBP.
I also recently got one of these, and I like it. I'm running at native 2560*1440 resolution. It also has flicker free backlight which helps against tired eyes and migraines for those that have that problem.

If my computer could drive a 4K monitor I would have gotten the 4K Dell of the same size instead. 4K 24" would at least be closer to Retina. Pixels are very much discernable at 2560*1440 @ 24".

- 40" TV hooked up to a 2009 Mac mini with SSD (handles all video great)
- Standing desk with a 2013 MacBook Air
- Custom made desk with x2 20" ACDs hooked up to a Late 2014 Mac mini with PCIe SSD. Made a hidden custom shelf and cabling area underneath
- Also underneath the desk is a late 2008 3.2Ghz Mac Pro I found for next to nothing on eBay. Not sure what to use it for, but finding it hard to give up. Installed a overclocked PC 3GB Radeon 7950 card in it and it runs fast

Would you recommend it? I have one in my wish list on Amazon, I need to replace my 27" 1080p monstrosity. I want to be able to connect my 2015 MBP (mini DP) and my work PC (HDMI).

If I would buy again I would look for a 27" WQHD Display because of font-size etc. but in general I would recommend it :)

I have a 27" 4K and I use it at 1920x1080 although I have tried it at 2560x1440. It's not nearly as crisp at 1440 as it is at 1080. But the general size of things at 1440 is good. I just use it at 1080 and I have Safari in split screen with "page zoom" at 85%. Seems to do okay for me.

Would a 27" 1080p monitor not have been a better choice then? Could have saved some $$

Standard 1080p on a 27" or even 24" looks horrible. So unclear and pixelated. I can choose 1080p on this monitor and it looks crap. But 1920x1080 @ 4K looks crisp and clear.
