Sorry I'm new here :p lol edited ;)

And it's not uncomfortable at all, I sit perfectly. I open them doors and pull the keyboard out on a slidy table thing and my legs sit under the keyboard table thing. My hands rest fine on the keyboard, no bending down required ;)

Also I now have two EyeTV Diversity aerials behind the iMac (not visible).

Maxing my ram out to 4gig, will it improve the performance alot? Is it necessary?

Oh, you can slide it out, but isn't it low though?

Yeah, I'm going to up my ram to 4gb soon, it's DEFINITELY worth the upgrade, hence why so many imac users on here have 4gb of ram, i was surprised to hear you didn't:p. The more RAM you add, the more apps you can have open at once, more power for future demanding applications, more tabs open in safari, if you use blender, or maya, or anything along that lines, you can have more "multires" (i think their called that), and stuff. The only con of having more RAM in a computer is that it will have a slower start up, the less ram, the faster start up.

I'm only fourteen so not really. Also, i know what ram is but coming from a 512mb ram microcrap xp its pretty fast, tbh I didn't think anything could be faster? LOL. I have six spaces, one with iTunes, one with safari, one for vmware, one for everything else, one for ps3 and one for dreamweaver 3 and my mac runs amazingly.

a big reason why I got the 30" was for recording. The expansive screen real estate can truly be appreciated when working in Logic

here's what my setup looked like before I got the 30" and the mstand.

yeah, im almost 15!! lol, i dont think i can fit my legs under the keyboard.

Yeah, i have 6 spaces two, 2 gig is enough, but 4gb is "future proof", you will appreciate that. I mean, not a lot of 14 year olds (like my self) have 2.8ghz imacs, what i think, i know for sure for me, i got this powerhorse so that i don't have to get a new computer for awhile, a part from the fact that ill be running windows, games, FCE and stuff. So 4gb of ram, if getting the 2.8ghz was for this reason, would really complement that, so it could have an even longer life.

Now that I've got daylight to work with, here's a superior view of my setup. Also, my new D300 that I'm thoroughly enjoying.

Yummy!!! that 30incher does match your mbp!! Nice setup, though i know you've posted before. My dad has the d200, do you know if an upgrade from that to this is worth it?

I used to have a Canon 20D, I got the D300 in December. To me it was a big upgrade. The high ISO performance of this camera is really solid. For me it was all in the details, since these cameras all have such good image quality already. Some things that sold me were: high res 3" LCD, 100% coverage viewfinder, great ergonomics, and etc. For me it was worth it, now I've got no excuses if my photos suck!

granted, i'm a canon fan, but going from a 20d to the 40d would have been nearly the same. plus you would have kept whatever lenses you had.
i, personally, can't wait for a 5d replacement so i can use my 30d as a backup body.

Believe me, I wouldn't have switched if I didn't think that it was worth it. Have you seen and held a D300 yet? It just feels so much better ergonomically, and the lcd is leaps and bounds ahead of the Canon. I'm really digging the new AF as well. I could just spit out specs all day, but for me the D300 just felt right. The only thing I miss is the Canon scroll wheel. I still turn lenses the wrong way when I take them on and off (habits from my Canon past) but it's getting to the point where the camera is becoming invisible to me and I can just focus on taking pictures. Also, it wasn't a big deal because my mom has a 30d, so she's using my old lenses now.

I'd love to see Apple update the ACD's someday so I can pick up an older 30" on the "cheap"

As for DSLR talk, I'm a Canon guy personally, with a nearly year-old XTi...and I love it a lot, but Canon has been getting beat by Nikon in nearly every review I've read since purchasing my camera, so if I were to be making my decision today, I don't know how sure I'd be with going Canon.

That said, I do love love love my XTi. Best camera I've ever owned.

Here's my setup when I'm away at college. All of my recording stuff is at home, I just bring the Firebox because it's so portable.

30" ACD & 17" MB

That 30'' makes the wireless keyboard look so small.

okay, so I took a trip to the Apple store today and decided it was time to upgrade my set-up. I was working on somewhat of a budget so I bought the keyboard (which I didn't realize would take me a bit of time getting used to typing on this smaller keyboard) and wireless mighty mouse as well as the Mini-DVI to DVI adapter. I bought the Dell monitor at Wal-Mart along with the stand which my MacBook is sitting on (I work at Wal-Mart Part Time so I get a discount and figured that the Dell was a good enough monitor to purchase). I am loving it so far. Just last week I maxed out the RAM in the MacBook.

Here is a photo, sorry for the poor quality,

So I'm guessing you opened it yourself to change it? How did that go? was it difficult?

iLamp? Wow, that's one sexy lamp. Where did you get it? Massive kudos for taking the time to create that thumbnail.

Do my eyes deceive me or did you upgrade the ACD and downgrade the MBP?
