I personally think quite the opposite, I'd much rather have an iBook on display than a gross MacBook. The bezel around the screen is too big in my opinion. The iBooks had it just right. Also the sharp edges on MacBooks are serious deal breaker for me. Plastics also feel cheaper (and for the most part are, friend of mine's cousin had his crack in all sorts of places from normal use, we toss our iBook G3 around like a ragdoll and it still looks amazing)

Gimme a sleek, tiny iBook G4 12" any day.

I REALLY hate it when people say that, you look at the ****ing screen, not the bezel, i don't think it matters.

With Intel Inside™

Haha, but yes, I love my iBook G4. I'm gonna put Tiger back on her and she'll really fly.

Also, on a battery with 750 or so cycles, it's at 97% health. :D

As soon as you can process a computer as more than a screen, but as an engineering marvel and work of art, you'll see what I mean.

At times I pick up my PowerBook and just hold it at different angles and say "wow, someone drew this, thought this up, and built this". It's really impressive to think of the amount of work that goes into designing a computer like Apple does. Motherboard layout, plastics design, cramming everything into a 1" thin case when all other companies don't sweat a 1.5-2" lappy. Its the little things that make me appreciate Apple's products. Not just the functionality.

So go ahead, continue to glare at your screen. Until you can appreciate industrial design do NOT tell me what matters.

That's awesome! They are such capable little machines. I love my iBook to tears. :)

Texas, unfortunately.
I hope you will at least be able to find a use for your iBook G3s when you get a new one, Cassie. :)

About the desk thing: In my "help me rearrange my setup" thread, people have been making fun of my carpet, wallpaper, lamp, desk, and table. All of these things have been with me for a very long time, and they, too, ain't going anywhere.

I hate my wallpaper, yes, but it's kinda kewl in a four-year-old way. :p

EDIT: I love Dr. Pepper! :D And Razer mice! :D

That is a Razer mouse, right? Which model?

Sadly, the only thing my clamshell will be used for (Probably) is to be on display. (of course I'll boot it up every once in a while, but it doesn't really have any advantages over my other computer's.

The white G3 will probably always be my backup, until the G4 takes its place someday.

Uh, no that's not a Razer mouse. It's a generic optical mouse that I bought for $2 on ebay.

But look! It lights up in blue! :D

Agree - traded my MacBook for a Powerbook.

I have to agree..

I have to disagree. The bezel on the MacBook is huge - it's so much larger than the powerbook 12"... It's like the same difference between the MB and MBP in overall size...

MacBook isn't as small as I hoped. Neither is the air. Footprint is too large, but that's just me.

We Know! and if you haven't noticed that comparison does not work because the MacBooks screen is Larger.

How about a comparison I made a year ago of my MacBook with my dad's 17" MBP? ;)

First, it does really makes my MBP way much cooler than before. My smcFan Control shows 63 degree Celcius at 2500 rpm for both fans. At this time of writing; surfing the web with 3 multitabs actives, one running program 'MacThe Ripper' and 2nd monitor on as well.

Second, it helps me to reposition my view better than before. So I won't feel hurt around my neck bone.

Lastly, it creates tidier space, and make me think to buy wireless Apple Keyboard, wireless Apple Mighty Mouse, and a Creative T20 speaker in a near future.

That's complete BS. Don't believe some gimmicky little app that tells you stuff like that. Now I don't know how long you've had this battery, but I would guess that 750 cycles must be at least 2 years, probably more. Even if you kept the battery in your fridge at a constant 40% charge (ideal storage conditions) & never used it once during that time, it would still have lost more capacity than what you claim.

The 12" iBook isn't exactly small either.

I was gonna say the same thing but didnt wanna be mean, but yeah...it doesnt look good AT ALL.

haha right, its even like 13" screen - even smaller than MBPs!

If were him, I'd ditch that monitor for good, even if it gives some additional pixels to MBP's screen

This was my setup about 6 months ago. Since then I've traded in my MB for a MBP, added a wireless MM, and added an iPhone, iPod Nano, and another external drive (1TB). I'll post another picture when I take one of the new setup.

Well I got to agree with that a MBP is really big. 17' will make any notebook big. I dont like the design of the MBP either. Its metallic in a sterilised way, that is to scrapped. Unlike the other great minimalistic apple designs.
But on the other hand MBP is such a light machine compared to its peers in the 17 range. And after all, its a powerful desktop replacement.

And then you got the Macbook. Man... Its so heavy and big for a 13 inch laptop. Thats the worst thing about it. For a 13' machine its not very mobile.

But then you got the air. The air's asthetics are freaking incredible. Its super light, solid and has insanely good build quality. The screen is good, and the keys are tight and responsive and even glowing in the dark(very cool). The air might not be small like an ASUS EEE or some other palm device with a crappy over cramped keyboard. No! It has a big size screen, but its so thin and light, that its dimensions dont matter. Because the keyboard is... the keyboard is full sized. you could actually write a novel on the air. the keyboard is really impressive.

In many ways the air is the pefect laptop. If only my needs was reduced to email, web browsing and that sort of thing, then I wouldnt have a problem with the lack of power compared to the MBP.

This post made me think: Is MB really a good mix between a MBA and a MBP?

Is there room for one more line in the macbook family? not in price range, but in power/portability?

It backlights, not glows.
