Aren't you the one who hates advancing technology? Something about how we should never have gone past the G3? Now you want a current processor? HA.

OK, let me put this in the best way I can. (Which I have explained over and over)

In my perfect world, we would all still be using G3 processors on Mac OS 10.0. No one has bought a new computer for a very long time, unless theirs broke /got stolen, etc.

Since this isn't my perfect world, I am forced (along with the rest of you) to upgrade, per se. And If I'm forced to upgrade, I'd better be satisfied with what I choose. If I had my choice, I would get a "new" iBook G4. Can't do that, so I'm getting an older one.

Don't take this the wrong way but you strike me as one of the people that's afraid to eat fast food because you think the government is putting mind control drugs in it.

So let me see if this is correct; you all are arguing iBook vs. MacBook because of the picture I posted of old my old iBook G4?

Wow...

Here's another one to spark some interest, it's getting pretty interesting. I'm surprised nobody's flamed me for the Dell mousepad yet...

I hate those optical mice, we should still be using ball mice. They were far superior.

I'm kidding PLEASE don't start a debate over this.

Completely agreed. Those damn laser mice only work on mousepads, and using them on a regular surface tends to make them skip around a whole lot. Worse than that, the ball on the mighty mouse sticks. Wonderful.

Why do we need a moderator? They're done talking about it. Plus, you've added fuel to the fire and created a iBook vs. MacBook thread. Like that is gonna turn out any better over there.

Why not let the moderators do their job the way they see fit? Sure, report things that you feel may need their attention but I don't think they require a back seat driver.

Sit back, enjoy the ride. ;)

Fine, I'll enjoy the ride, if another page goes by wasted without a setup, ughh, i dont know why it is whenever i post my setup, a random discussion starts and hijacks the thread, last time it was about speakers.

Well I have always personally thought its much better to create more useless threads outside this one than just discuss them in here. Ya know, to keep on adding to the other useless threads on this forum.

In regards to the debate posting setups is bound to start debates especially on the design of the product. If you feel that there is legitimate ground for debate then feel free to post a new thread about it and link it here.

That's a totally different discussion and I'm with you on that one. I'm currently reading Fast Food Nation.

Don't get me started on that book, with it mildly racist undertones and complete disdain for science and logical reasoning. Anyway that is another thread (most probably for the prsi forum). If you want to start it feel free.

Wow...

Well, I didn't help anything; I'm pretty sure I'm going to get an iBook g4 for my main machine, and someone asked why I wouldn't get a MacBook, and you know the rest of the story.

Sorry for the hi-jacking, please continue with the pictures of your far superior computers. :)

No offense, but have you ever used Cheetah? Its nothing like Panther (as of 10.3.9), Tiger, or Leopard. It's interface was really sluggish and slow, It crashed a lot, and you couldn't even watch a cd or dvd in it. Plus most printers didn't have drivers.

Hell, Apple gave away Puma for free six months after cheetah came out cause it sucked so badly.

Also, i dont know about you, but comparing an old G3 iBook to my current Macbook Pro has a huge difference in terms of pretty much everything. My MBP (2.4GHz, 4gb ram) runs circles around the old iBook with a G3 300MHz with 256mb ram, or even that 800MHz G3 that you have in your sig

I have used Cheetah. It is definitely different then Panther, but I'm sure we would all live with it.

Now I'm gonna shut up, I don't want this to turn into the "POWER 6" thread.

FYI, there was a NYT article earlier today about some people's unwillingness to upgrade to newer software. As a (noob) developer and power user, that frustrates me a lot (e.g. I do some freelance webdev work, and god knows how much time I waste getting sites to render correctly in browsers that aren't latest Safari/Firefox/Opera/MSIE...a lot more than everything else combined times two, for starters)..and I can only tell you one very useful thing I hope sways your decision to use Cheetah: the lack of security updates. Really, old hardware and software are cheap. But they don't come with anything new, and Cheetah's EOL was long, long ago. Not only that, but none of the dev candy is there, so almost none of the apps you see nowadays would work. So not only do you not have any updates for the OS, you no longer have any updates for any of the software you'd be able to use. And honestly, these security holes exist. If they didn't Apple and third party devs would not be patching them.

It may be forced obsolescence and you may not like it, but software is usually updated for other reasons than for a company to make more money selling software and hardware like Apple does. But hey, that's a personal opinion and purchasing decision..my two cents: just don't expect anyone to bend over backwards to fulfill your needs. As time passes by and Apple eventually drops PPC support from OS X, devs will also start dropping PPC support as well...well, to be picky, there's a fair number of leopard or intel only apps as it stands now. A huge majority require at least 10.3.9..if that hasn't already changed much in the months after the 10.5 release where some dropped 10.3.9 support in favor of a 10.4.x minimum. Some rare ones will run on 10.2.8. Good luck with 10.0.

Pretty nice.

How long have you had the 360 with all of that stuff on it?
I'm apprehensive to do that with mine because of overheating issues.

I just tried it tonight, and I'm not too worried about overheating issues because I'm not going to have this setup for long as I'm moving out in 3 months, which if it overheats ... elite here I come.

It just sounds like you don't want technology to move forward, because you can't afford to be up to date?

It is definitely part money-wise, but beyond that is the true purpose, in that I really don't think we need to advance any further. Like I've said many times before, "don't fix what ain't broke." and "we should be happy with what we have, instead of always wanting more."
