Some people aren't incredibly vain & shallow; they don't sacrifice screen real estate just because they don't match.

Dude, chill.

I am from vain or shallow... just rustling his feathers a bit.

Remember, that this thread is not for everyone to say: "oooh, I love you setup Billy" or "Cindy, your Macbook Air is so kewl", people can and will razz, disagree and comment on other people's setups.

New baby...

32gb :) touch...

Bye

I can have it, I don't think you need it :p, jk, have fun with it, it was either that or the 80gb classic, and i went with the classic.

1. 24" iMac, 2.8ghz Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile Processor, 2gb of RAM, 500gb Seagate Drive, Panasonic Matshita Optical Drive, AMD ATI Radeon 2600XT Mobility
2. Silver 80GB iPod Classic
3. At&t Sony Ericsson w580i
4. Western Digital 500GB MyBook Studio Edition External HD (Time Machine via FireWire 800)
5. Bose Companion 2's (DA BEST!!!)
6. Canon PIXMA MP470 Printer
7. Casio Exilim EX-Z1080 (being used)
8. NEW!!!2.2ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook, 2gb of RAM, 120GB Hitachi Drive, [some weird optical drive], Intel® GMA™X3100

A small table to make an "L" desk, in cabinets is a dock (new one), camera charger and usb connector, wires going up to second shelf are my phone usb connector, and just a misc usb B for any device that needs it, also, macbook, and my comfy chair (i know, crooked, too lazy to edit):

And heres a closeup of the hidden WD external drive, i know messy, but it hides in that cabinet, i could swear thats my first time opening it to take a picture in like 2 months:

That's complete BS. Don't believe some gimmicky little app that tells you stuff like that. Now I don't know how long you've had this battery, but I would guess that 750 cycles must be at least 2 years, probably more. Even if you kept the battery in your fridge at a constant 40% charge (ideal storage conditions) & never used it once during that time, it would still have lost more capacity than what you claim.

Somebody's cranky today...

First of all, I can't remember exactly.
Second, there's no need to call it BS.
Third, do you think I am trying to con somebody? No. "What I claim" is wrong, maybe. You act like you're the savior of the universe by flaming something I said about my battery. No one really cares that much.

Carry on.... Sheesh. Have you been fed aggressive pie?

Some people aren't incredibly vain & shallow; they don't sacrifice screen real estate just because they don't match.

Oh, my God! Wow......

Again.... pie?

Poor image of my current setup, I'll get some better ones tomorrow..

2GHz Core Duo 15" MBP w/2GB RAM, Dell 2007WFP.

Moving to Paris next year for two years of study though, will be travelling quite a bit so I'm thinking about switching to a MBA.

Hopefully MBA with new 24" ACD (to be bought over there, whenever they get around to updating those), wireless BT keyboard, etc. Most of the current setup will be going (display, speakers, printer, ps3) as I can't take it with me :(

The vertical display layout works great for me.

dscn0465op2.jpg

PS that's not uneven backlighting on the Dell, just the design of the wallpaper. I have nothing bad to say about Dell displays in fact, this one (with S-IPS) panel has been fantastic, and unless Apple update their lineup soon-ish, or at least reduce their prices, they'll be getting my business for a 2408WFP.

Texas, unfortunately.
The 12" iBook isn't exactly small either.

macbook_ibook.jpg

And that's compared to a MB? If so, pretty much everything that's added is bezel.

Apple really needs to put a current processor in the iBook G4 case. I'd save up for three years if I had to just to buy one, instead of buying an old G4 like I'm planning.

$100, why? thats the normal price.
No reason, I was just wondering.

You act like you're the savior of the universe by flaming something I said about my battery.
I'm not trying to 'save' anyone. I just feel that somebody should point out when another forumite posts utter nonesense, so that the more gullible people that read this thread don't start believing in delusions.

Y'see, the thing is, that if there was a market for a modern Apple laptop in an iBook size case, they would have done just that.

Sorry, but, um, why?

I could understand someone wanting a 12" PowerBook with a current processor, but not an iBook.

The iBook was nice, but the MacBook, aesthetically, is far superior. IMO.

As for all the extra size being due to the bezel, maybe you didn't notice the 13.3" widescreen that replaced the 12.1" 4:3 screen, and guess what - the MacBook is still smaller overall.

Dude, what's up with that monitor?!??!! Such a BEAUTIFUL MBP and such a haggard looking monitor... :D

I was gonna say the same thing but didnt wanna be mean, but yeah...it doesnt look good AT ALL.

haha right, its even like 13" screen - even smaller than MBPs!

If were him, I'd ditch that monitor for good, even if it gives some additional pixels to MBP's screen

Thanks Guys. I'd appreciated that. Just to show off with my current setup. ;)

I like the way the iBook feels compared to the MacBook, but I respect your opinion on that. A 12" notebook no matter what it is made of or feels like would be excellent.

See, there's another thing. The MacBook is just too wide. When I was first shopping around for a Mac, I needed something that was under or very close to $1000. I did consider a MacBook.

However when I went to the Apple store, I took one look at it and was instantly turned off by it's look. Sure, it's nice and thin, but it's just too wide. The keyboard is great, but it seems to me Apple made it look like that so it wouldn't seem as wide as it is. (And there's still space between the keyboard and the edge of the case!) 12" seems like the perfect size for a notebook.

IMO

Apple had to make it wide in order to compete with it's Windows Counterparts they are all wide and it even provides more area, as well as a more natural perspective if you will for the Human eye.

Most people would prefer a larger screen anyways.

See, I'm turned off by the square-ness of the 12" models.. I like the widescreen version of the macbooks. Although, I really don't like macbooks. lol. I'm a macbook pro/macbook air guy.

I thought the MacBook looked really wide compared to my old 12" PowerBook, but after using the MacBook for over a month, it now feels completely normal (even the bezel), and the PowerBook just looks really narrow and square.

Like I did, I'm sure you could get used to the extra width of the MacBook, and grow to love the extra screen real estate the MacBook gives you. I do respect your opinion, but I still think you should strongly reconsider the MacBook, rather than a iBook G4. :)

None yet, but theres an Incase one on the apple store that looks good - the black rubber one with the contoured pattern on the back. I'll be ordering one this week along with aperture 2.
Thats my favourite iPod touch case too, and I will certainly be getting one the day I buy a touch.

If you're interested, there's a whole thread about it here, with some cool pictures.

I'm sure I would, but the main reason for a G4 is indeed, the looks, but the 2nd reason is the cost. I don't have a job just yet, and the one I'm considering pays minimum wage, so the G4 is a much more cost efficient computer.

Aren't you the one who hates advancing technology? Something about how we should never have gone past the G3? Now you want a current processor? HA.
