</still pissed that you don't understand my trading.... :p>

Dont worry too much about it ;)

Why do you think the Mac Pro has all of it's sockets at the back except for USB/FW/audio?

Mac Pro (and even iMac) is different. Its a desktop computer that sits in one place the whole time, meaning you dont have to constantly connect/disconnect stuff. With laptops its different because when you take them from place to place you connect/disconnect much more often so it makes sense to make the ports more accessible - thus putting them on the sides.

Normal people don't use their laptops as desktops 24/7, you know

Here's my hobby dev workspace. The monitor at the left (HP vp17) is hooked up to a Dreamcast VGA box, running a game I'm working on. The notebook next to it is an old Dell Inspiron 3200 running Win2K to burn multisession CDs for the Dreamcast since I can't get my Mac to do the same. My desk setup is described below the pics.

My main Mac is a "Frankenmac" Gigabit Ethernet G4 (with the side panels and handles off my now-fried MDD dual 1.25ghz) upgraded to a single 1.8ghz processor, 2gigs of RAM, two hard drives (80 and 60 gig), a 250gig external drive, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128meg video card (PC flashed), Sonnet Tempo USB 2.0 card, cheapo speakers with sub, HP w2007 glossy widescreen monitor, running Mac OS X 10.5.2. The notebook is a Powerbook G3 Series 1998 "Wallstreet", 300mhz processor, 512megs RAM, 20gig hard drive, running Mac OS X 10.4.11 via XPostFacto, and running it very nicely too. The runtime I use to test my Dreamcast code runs fullspeed on the old 'book! The ipods are a last gen Nano 4gb and a Touch 16gb. The phone is a cheapo alltel POS.

The PC is an old Netvista motherboard with 1.8ghz P4, 1gig RAM, 80 gig hard drive. I use it for running emulators, games, and watching DVDs on my TV.

What I don't understand is why you think anyone with a main computer that's over three years old, or uses older technology in general, needs to upgrade. If they haven't done it yet, then they don't want to.

Other then that, the TiBook is a classic that cannot be denied, it was sexy when it came out, it's still sexy today.

Don't take this the wrong way, but just out of curiosity. Why are you developing games for dreamcast? Maybe a read it wrong or maybe I'm thinking of a different dreamcast. Is it Sega Dreamcast?

I think that if people wanna use older technology, more power to 'em. The only thing I don't like about CRT's is their bulkyness, but if that doesn't bother someone, then more power to them if they wanna use it.

Same thing goes for older computers - if you don't mind a bit of sluggishness when running newer apps, etc., then that's cool.

I love my 12" iBook. (same model as yours) While it's not the fastest computer out there, it's certainly fast enough for general usage and I use mine a lot.

And yeah, the TiBook is an amazing machine. I had one for a brief period a couple of years ago and while it wasn't in the best shape, (had an issue where it would just go to sleep at random times, usually when moved) it was still an awesome computer and looked 1000x better than any new PC laptop at the time and hell, I think it looks better than any PC laptop that's out now.

Gosh...how do you not know what two mice are for...geezz... :p JK

One I leave at home...and when I'm at law school, the microsoft goes with (smaller, better tracking, simple)...

Thanks!

Probably the worst setup I've ever seen, absolutely appalling ...... kidding. :D

I like it, it's nicely colour coded but it's the little Mario that does it for me! By the way, why dost thou need two separate mice - is one for gaming?

New to macrumors...well the post your setup page...lol

Be gentle :)

P.S. There are more pictures on my flickr page...

Thanks guys!

why not make the external display primary and make the MBP a seconaday display? you can do this in Display preferences under Arrangement tab by dragging the white menu bar to the bigger blue box.

also looks like you need to calibrate your MBP's screen to match the external display. to do this click the "Calibrate" button under the Color tab in Display preferences and choose Televison gamma and the D65 white point ignoring the Advanced settings. but you could use advanced settings if you wish. do the same for the external display if you havent already. i found this method matched my MBP to my cinema display pretty well but not perfectly.

Nice setup. If budget is a concern on the 22" monitor, check out newegg.com. Samsung just refreshed their line, and they are looking pretty nice for the price. :)
