Hate to burst your bubble, but none of those will do a better job then your Macbook (except perhaps a marginal increase). Photography processing requires raw horsepower, not dedicated video.

Alright, I just wanted to post this photo before everything gets completely changed. My iMac just sold on eBay, along with my iPhone, and my two iBooks. I did all this so I could get a new iMac and $99 16GB iPod Touch through Apple's Back to School Promotion. I also am planning to get a MIKAEL desk with the glass top (where can you buy the glass top?) and I am going to replace my TV from 1984 with a new Westinghouse 26" HDTV as soon as it gets out of backorder. I also hope to get a new shelf for all of my game consoles, I have a black one in mind with 4 shelves. And lastly, I am going to get a new shelf for all of my games to go on, once again from IKEA. :D

What do you guys think?

Also, just to add, I LOVE my Altec Lansing speakers. There's a subwoofer that you can't see to the left, and the speakers have AMAZING quality! :)

My office remodel is almost done. Since my last post, I've upgraded my monitors and added a second Kinesis keyboard.

The Mac Pro is a 8x2.8, 12 GB of RAM, 3x2600 video cards, and ~5 TB of local disk. The monitors for the Mac Pro are 1x30 Apple and 4x20" 1200x1600 HP 20". The MacBook Pro is 2.2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM with a 24" display.

Also, here's a picture of my wiring closet for the various Cat-6 drops around the house (10 in the office--I have more equipment than above, but they're not Macs :) ):

1: What the hell do you do for a living? :)
2: What brand/model is your LCD mounting system? That's very slick.
3: How strong is your air conditioner? It must get warm in there. Ok, that's not a serious question. :)

I see how this is wired up, but what is the third DLINK box down?

I would guess that maybe it is a back-up ADSL modem and it appears to have a phone socket input and ethernet output whilst the upper SMC box is the main cable modem? Just a guess...

Please tell me you don't have a 56k internet connection.....

No, the phone lines there is actually Vonage extensions that distribute over to my desk. :)

The DLINK is my old router. I just moved and haven't gotten the network set-up completely, so in the interim, my old network is just ganged onto the new network. It's just a hack for now.

Edit: Oops--The third box is the Vonage adapter. There's 3 phone jacks in there; 1 is a home-run to another phone panel in the basement (in theory, just hangs out there right now). The other 2 are extensions that run to my desk.

I forgot to mention that the office has a dedicate 60 amp sub-panel off the main panel. There's 3 x 15 amp outlet circuits in spread across 3 locations in the office, 1 x 15 amp in the closet, 1 x 20 amp for the AC, and 1 x 15 amp for the lights/small electric outlets.

Here's a pic of the wiring closet progress during construction:

I'm a software entrepreneur, mostly focused on the development side of the house (coding, debugging--I do some marketing and PM but generally I try to work with others with those skills).

The LCD mounts are made by Ergotron. I highly recommend them, though they are not cheap.

Even though it wasn't serious, the A/C I have right now is temporary--I'm having my HVAC guy put in a dedicated ductless system for the office--it will be 12,000 BTUs. :)

I saw the source code, but was wondering if your home hosted the IRS tax database with that much screen real estate. :)

Thanks for the tip. Expense isn't a problem if it does the job properly. I don't like the VESA mounts that sag after two months. Those look sturdy.

Yeah, these are the DS-100 system. They used to sell the parts individually, so it was possible to build just about anything. I'm not sure they do now. I've had them for about 3 years--they are completely worth the price. Just beware that longer bars are needed for larger screens (> 24" in landscape mode).

Here's my setup, I just moved a couple of months ago and decided to go with an elevated desk and stool. I run my penryn mpb closed most of the time. If you look closely it's elevated a bit to help circulation, I used a headband :)

One of my favourite setups by far, because of the desk, the clock, calendar, lomography cameras, Keep Calm and Carry On print, and desktop background. Fantastic!

Handling flash video/sites would be my main concern and streaming 420p videos. Also screens are they decently lit or rather dim.

I ask because i'm considering getting one of these to replace my BlackBook. Then again maybe i should get a refurb Air
