Apple can probably cut production costs by shipping underpowered supplies, because 99% of their clientelle won't use their machines hard enough for it to be an issue.

Is there the same problem with MacBooks?

There are many other things that can cause a charge to remain at 97-99% rather than 100%, most notably the condition of the battery. In fact, although my MacBook has been idling on the AC adaptor for the last 5 hours, the battery hasn't shifted from 96%.

Got a link? Quite an interesting topic!

MB & MBP.

Battery health doesn't affect charge %.

Battery starts recharging only when its at 95 % and lower - to prevent unnecessary cycles due to slight battery drain under certain circumstances.

Do you believe me now . . . ?

I can personally attest to the fact that under very heavy load, my santa rosa macbook pro actually drained the battery while connected to the Magsafe.

This hasn't happened yet with Penryn but who knows...

I had been looking for an idea on how to enlarge my current desk without spending too much, and having better access to my file drawer (it used to have to tuck behind the desk leg and I'd have to swivel it around to get any of the drawers open).

I came across this hack on the Ikea Hacker site (http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/2008/06/double-up-your-work-space.html) but after reading the comments, was worried about having enough support along the seam.

My solution was to add 2 cheap legs to support the back, and screw the Captiva legs into a 3/4" thick slab of plywood. This gave a lot of support to the desktop, and the plywood thickness made up the difference between the end of the leg and the desktop (legs were 12" long at the fully adjusted length and I had more space than that, but the next size up would've been too long). I then I ironed on some edge banding to cover the front of the plywood slab to finish it off!

So here's the new and improved set up!

Heres mine, taken with the iPhone. Hackintosh/Vista in the background.

You can't hide what's inside... my Pictures folder. :D

You mean in the picture?

That, good sir, is a Sawtooth.

Thanks a lot, though. Trying to claw my way back in to the Mac World™, one computer at a time.

ahh right, just with the lighting in the photo it looks like a B/W

Here is my new setup:

Got some new accessories. My Apple BT Keyboard and Mighty Mouse, Griffin iCurve, and Iomega UltraMax 500GB backup HD. Loving them all so far, especially my new keyboard! Very similar to the one on the MacBook, which is kick ass.
