Canada's Cap.
It's been ages I posted here, and my setup changed a bit since last time:

Hey, where did you get those silver grills underneath your mbp and pb?
Also is it true that most of the heat of the mbps escapes through the bottom of the unit?
And...is there any reason why you chose the birch over the black mikael desk(s)?

Thanx :)

I upgraded from a 1.25 GHZ 17" iMac G4 to a 2.4 GHZ 24" iMac Alu.
A very nice upgrade =) Also cleaned up my desk a bit haha.
Also the 4G iPod pictured is long since busted and I have an 80GB Classic now.

wow thats a real nice setup man. how's that hackintosh working for you?

Thanks, the Hackintosh is great I'm using it as my main system. It's very stable and fast, best part about it all I built the actual system in 2006 and when I decided to install OSX on it a few weeks ago everything worked perfect and I did not need to spend any extra money on hardware to get it working :).

The grills are from Ikea.
I like them better than regular Laptop holders cause I can put all the cables between the iron bars when I take my laptop with me so they won't fall between the desk and the wall
Not sure if it really helps with the cooling though, but as far as I see it: the more airflow around the device, the more it gets cooled?

As for the deskcolor: I recently changed the color of the wall, so now a black desk would be better.
Maybe a project for this summer..

If anyone else is struggling with wires on the floor beneath their desk, I recommend you check out Signum at IKEA. You basically fit it underneath the desk and the wires are lifted off the ground into a tray which hides them away. This worked wonders for me.

Absolutely agree with this. These things are wonderful and cheap. I have several underneath my desk and it makes a huge difference.

not only wires, but your surge protector and several DC adapter bricks (printer, external hd, etc.) will fit in the rack. This has made my setup SO much neater! IKEA is the best store on earth! well other than :apple: :p

I would say not much changed since the last time I posted, I just moved it around to a different part of my room and a few things are missing. Well anyway here goes nothing. I'm thinking about selling this including the monitor etc and use the money towards one of the Apple Laptops? Think its a good idea ?

As you can see, my grey cat (Thor) was replaced by a 24" iMac that I was setting up for my parents (That is also the reason for the general clutter of boxes under the desk).

The second pair of pictures is of my wimpy entertainment center, macbook and iPod touch representing. And another cat (Xavi).

Its only a 23", and yeah I'm not happy with it like that either. I wanted a small TV, and I love those speakers but I know that when they are near each other it makes it look a little goofy.

... maybe if the TV were mounted a bit lower... or maybe I should try to put the speakers somewhere else...
