How do you find the Z4's, are they nice?

I'm stuck between buying myself some Altec Lansing fx6021's of saving myself some cash and getting a pair of logitechs.

I love them. Great sound quality in my opinion for a 2.1. I honestly bought them to match my setup but they turned out to be great speakers. ;) Purchased them off NewEgg.

What do you use to get that lighting behind your laptop? I've been looking for an easy, clean way to get some cool lighting behind my monitor. :) I don't need fancy colours, just a warm yellow light is fine. Can anyone make any suggestions?

It's this rectangular lamp I purchased at IKEA. Sorry, I forgot the name of it but they usually have a ton on display. Just a box looking lamp.

My setup

Hi guys, ive been viewing this post for a while now but I think its time to post my setup.

The PowerMac G4 on the far right with the two 19in LCD's. The grey one in the Middle is my Dual P3 1Ghz Server, that the black one of the left is my Gaming machine, booting between Linux and Windows (For Gaming only), with the 22in LCD.

Been an Apple user for a while, my first system was a 486 PC but later moved to a PowerMac 5200, than a 7300, still got them too.

So, why does it appear that you have system boards in an incubator?

Thats a project of mine. Nothing yet. They are in an old cabinet. They are just a bunch of old systems I have dug up over the years. I was planing on building a cluster of some sort but it got a little annoying, it looks cool though and spins people out.

It definitely looks cool.

If you've got a better picture of it, could you PM it to me since it's not really related to the Mac side of the world?

Updated Study

Here is some updated pics. The last lot were taken 3 months ago. The Samsung LCD is now part of my wifes computer and the iMac my wife was using in now my daughters. My little one was using my old 5200, I painted it purple for her.

The PowerMac is now using the 22In and the Black PC uses all three. I just switch over when I need to use either one.

The laptop is an Acer TravelMate 341T, work provided it so I can't complain. Its actually nice. No Windows on it thank god. I have a few picture frames of all the CPU's I have collected. Being a Network Admin I grab alot of trash just for fun.

Thanks.
I just updated the study too. I will get a few shots of the "project" for you. Unfortunately they are all PC's.

I'd like to see it also.;)

I started making a cabinet in woods a couple years ago in HS but never finished it as I didn't really know where to put it. That and each shelf/case would have to be custom made for it. I was just going to put all the random machines I have in it to get them all in one spot and clean it up a little.

I've fiddled with the idea of making a cluster with some of them too. I have Parallel Knoppix, which is supposed to be easy, but so far I haven't even figured it out.:p
I may have to think about making or finding another case.

Project

I got the idea from searching the web for SETI systems. I know... I saw a few people were building these clusters, so I thought I would have a shot at it. Not for SETI but for anything really.

The pics are larger so please forgive me.

Sorry forgot the pics. I tried Parallel Knoppix to but was just spun out by it. Being a Linux user for almost ten years too. Not really knowing how to setup the software was a main reason for not continuing with it.

Edit: Sorry didn't read your post all the way. If you've been using Linux for 10 years and couldn't figure it out I guess I'll pass for now :D I dabble with it once in a while, but I'm nowhere near proficient. I managed to get Samba working right for my network storage box the other day though... now for AFP.

I still have heaps to learn hey, It is getting easier these days though with all the new distro's and tools out, I haven't played with the cluster in ages. But will give it a shot soon I think.

The silver machine is my Linux server, it hosts my files, my website/ftp the printers etc. It was easier to set up I think. I have always been a Apple fan but use Linux for admin stuff. All the desktops and servers at work are Linux based so I have to stay with it.

ahh, finally was able to clean up my setup, I moved furniture around in my room so that it will acomidate my new monitor (dell 2408) which should be here on friday! Don't mind the cables, I have a solution coming, I'll make a thread about it and post another set of pics once I have my monitor and my wires sorted out. Also I'll be getting a new shelving unit to replace the filing cabinet.

Anyway, pretty basic setup right now...

Do you have raid on your server? I was going to do a raid 5 on my storage box whenever I could splurge for enough drives, but most of the stuff is replaceable like movies and music. My music and anything that's important I will probably leave a copy on my MBP. Either that or do a smaller mirrored drive for important stuff and dump movies and big stuff on a larger drive. It would just be a pain to re rip all of them.

I finally figured out how to get guest access with security set to user so everything's actually working properly.:)
