i would really reccomend one of the newer keyboards. i had that one and then went with an aluminum keyboard and sooooo much better imo

Looks like a BT one, he probably likes/needs the numpad. I have both of the new ones and find myself reaching for the num pad when typing on my BT alu kbd but I don't use it that much.

Love the soft touch keys on the alum keyboard, much easier to type, but no numbers. :(

I really love the creamy/brown tint to the light :) it's very lovely.

About 7 am on that pic and nothing but sunshine in the room reflecting off the side of the house. :)

previously i had harman/kardon soundstick II and i put it on with my iMac 24" and now i have bose companion 3 for my MBP.. to compare, it was bose companion 3 was winner.. since both are 2 channel bose delivered deeper base sound. also i like companion 3 design and size over companion 5..

I listened to the companion 3 and 5, soundsticks, and several higher-end logitechs and the Bose won hands down just because of the range and clarity of sound (and I did NOT judge the Bose in a retail setting, because they cheat by using high bitrate music). I chose the Companion 3 because of the $ vs the 5. The absence mid tones in some music is my only complaint, although for the most part it can be adjusted using an EQ.

And it's funny, our setups are a lot alike. I have a 15" MBP on mStand with a samsung monitor and companion 3's.

Truly mediocre sounding stuff. No highs, just lows just Bose. I used to own them (gifted them to my uncle) and now I have a much better (read: cheaper) pair of M-Audios Studiophile AV-40's; they put the Bose ones to shame. If what you want is a 2.1 setup then Klipsch has some nice ones, same as other brands. Remember BOSE stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment hehe:p Don't take me as a Bose hater, I have and quite like my QC2's of course they aren't the most precise sounding cans out there but they're ok and perhaps Bose's best products (dunno about their PA systems). I used to thought that Bose was the sizznit but once you've heard and researched other stuff then you'll notice.

I thought the same for one of their stereo passive speakers, they turned out to be crap•y, very. The thing is, you get tricked, you see the price tag and you assume they're the bomb when they really are ok sounding stuff, not something good. Take for example their in-ears, (sorry Luis) my dad gifted them to me I thought they were THE best then I listened to some Sennheisers that were cheaper and guess what, they were better. Listen to other brands, and let your ears be the ultimate judge, we can guide you but what sounds the best to your ears is what's truly worth it. If its Bose then well, go ahead, but please, listen to other stuff before buying.

The ones I tried were between aisles at a Target store (far from Bose's ideal conditions). I knew that would be the best place because all the speakers had the same audio source (a movie). I tested them against the Altec Lansing 2.1 system I have now and there was no competition. Also they had the companion 2's which for the $ and space sound pretty good. The new small bose desktop monitors are just way too expensive and don't sound good at all. You might as well buy a $10 pair of headphones at walmart instead of $400 soup cans that say "BOSE" on them.

I think it is mostly about how your sound is output before it reaches the speakers, rather than the physical speaker. I am not an audio tech or professional, but just by tweaking the EQ I brought out several timbres that IMO sounded wonderful on the bose. Also, for some reason I have much less EMI with the companion 3 than my old speakers, idk why?

thanks guys, I'm honestly considering picking up a pair of klipsch pro media 2.1's and bose companion 3's and seeing which ones I like better.

I always avoid EQ's but thats prolly just me. Anyway, Its not that much as the "sound is output before it reaches the speaker", I use ALAC (Apple Losses Audio Codec) for all of my music and they make a HUGE difference over compressed music (not really over 320 but still), but, if the physical speaker itself is either poorly made, placed, amplified then no matter if your source is good then your music will sound horrible. I specially dislike their Companion series, I've heard all of them and owned the 3's and well, 3" paper cones that naturally lack the midrange, 6" polymer subwoofer that has an abnormal output so the low frequencies sound abrupt, muddy and unimpressive, will NOT qualify as good sounding. I've also heard their stupidly expensive LifeStyle system that is just complete trash, they could probably have the most unbalanced sound I've heard, the bass was just insanely loud and the speakers crumbled A LOT with the midrange and the HF definition was just strange (can't even tell what it was).

So yeah, Bose products are well marketed "OK sounding" stuff that many claim to be hi-quality when they're plain 'ol regular. I might sound like a Bose hater, but hey, I've learnt from experience.
