Here is my setup at home... Anthro desk with my two 22" SAMSUNG monitors (hooked up to the Mac Pro) and my new MacBook. The Mac Pro is out of the picture to the left.

It sits very nicely in bed on this Belkin Cushtop. It stays cooler and gives me a better angle to type.

Yes, that is my Amazon Kindle. I love the Kindle! So far, I have purchased 43 books for it. Much cheaper than buying them in a bookstore IMO.

I bought some Creative speakers- really damn good for the money, I was shocked the first time I heard them.

Soon to come:

I love this idea. Any reason for the shelves being offset? I assume (hope) the Mac is on the shelf where you found the studs, but the lower offset one confuses me.

They're the Lack Shelves from Ikea, hollow-core but quite nice for their purpose. With the Bjarnum brackets.
