I love this idea. Any reason for the shelves being offset? I assume (hope) the Mac is on the shelf where you found the studs, but the lower offset one confuses me.

They're the Lack Shelves from Ikea, hollow-core but quite nice for their purpose. With the Bjarnum brackets.

now i hate to contradict but i think those are jarpen with those brackets. the lacks are thicker and dont use a bracket

Thanks for the interest in my desk!

Where did it come from?
I designed this one myself and had a local furniture
maker build it for me... it's made from pine... I was too cheap (a.k.a., could not afford) to go with the nicer, denser wood... such as maple. But this is what I wanted, and could never ever find anywhere I looked. This is a true multimedia desk.
Editing video and creating motion graphics, doing print projects is readily accommodated. All ergonomically correct! Desk height is right, speaker height is right. Monitor(s) distance from eyes is all good. The only bad thing is never wanting to leave the room... :) no worries... I do get out. :)

MacPro 8 core 2.8 GHZ 16Gigs RAM, 1 terabyte RAID, and a couple of more internal drives. Using the Intensity Pro to drive the Samsung 32" Television while editing video and more.. It has multiple inputs that allow me to use it as a computer monitor as well. Those are BX5A's on either side of the monitor bridge (for editing, mixing, iTunes, etc.) with a couple of Altec Lansings 2.1 system for the external sound of the TV. The onboard speakers are not very good. Also there sits 2 firewire 800 drives (blue lights)that sit on top of the Sony up-converting DVD player. Networking gear and Modems below that. On the right is a flatbed scanner and of course a combo vcr/dvd player. Still have a lot of old home movies to put together ! :)
by the way, WOW (World of Warcraft) on the Samsung is incredible!

ok guys,
take it easy.

Here is my setup when I worked from home in college ....

A 30in cinema display, two 19" display, and one more 19" off to the left that was basically just for iTunes and TV. The computer was a PowerMac Quad.

And here is my current setup at home. 20in Cinema display, 2.53 MBP Unibody, and 3 G-Tech external drivers (time machines, movies, and everything but movies).

Here is my current setup at work .... 2.4 Ghz Aluminum iMac, 22" Dell LCD. I plan on putting the dell monitor on an arm to free up some space but haven't gotten around to it yet. The iMac is sitting on a Macessity Lowkey stand ... it raises up the screen to my eye level a little better, provides a bed for the keyboard, and a few usb ports for flash drives, etc. that I don't leave plugged in long.

What shelves are those if you don't mind me asking. I am moving into an apartment with limited space for a desk. this would be perfect!

The shelves are offset only for optical reasons. Because of the brackets you can easyly shorten them to a lenght you like.

Yes, jarpen is right :)

My setup is very well-organized, and you may have heard where I purchased my desk from, it's a store called Wal-Mart.[/QUOTE]

Heres my setup. I got the iMac on Monday so it's still brand new. Only 3 cables in the back of the iMac thanks to the wireless keyboard and mouse. Plugged into the iMac is the power lead, the ipod cable and a cable to connect my camera. I've also got an iPod Nano 4th Generation 8GB Silver. The speakers on the left are JBL On Stage Micros. There not that good but there okay for casual listening.
