well its be awhile moved in August finally getting things to the way I want them.. slow but surely getting the wires under control.. took an idea from a post on lifehacker and I have a 12 outlet triplitte surge protector mounted to the bottom of the desk with some of those ikea wire baskets.. I have a few strays but its getting there.....

always up for new ideas or improvement if anyone has any...

Nice setup, were did you get the desk from?

Macbook is in the signature. External drive is not shown but it's 250GB. iPod Touch also not shown.

Had to crop this bigtime for it to be under 1.14MB.

Here you go: Let me know what you think!

Same again, were did you get the desk from? :)

~ I'm on the lookout for a desk, were do you lot get yours from? I'm from UK, I might have a ride to IKEA, all I want is just a simple one really.. just like a top with legs, but long rather than wide.

Thanks.

Heres my setup. I got the iMac on Monday so it's still brand new. Only 3 cables in the back of the iMac thanks to the wireless keyboard and mouse. Plugged into the iMac is the power lead, the ipod cable and a cable to connect my camera. I've also got an iPod Nano 4th Generation 8GB Silver. The speakers on the left are JBL On Stage Micros. There not that good but there okay for casual listening.

Here's my entire Apple Collection to date.

Here are my Macs, all packed in a little 13'x10' room.

My main setup is a 30" ACD + 23" Acrylic ACD, and one of my all-time favorite Macs, the 20" iMac 20".

All units are in working condition. In the middle shelves, I have two Cubes and a 15" and 17" Studio Displays, an eMac and a 15" iMac G4. All have airport cards and will primarily used when we family gatherings.

As for the six MDDs on the top shelf, four are Dual 1.25s, one Dual 867, and a Dual 1.42. These suckers are LOUD! I can't work on them for 10 minutes without getting irritated.

As for the iMacs shelf, I'm only collecting the slot-load models. But I had to get the original 233MHz iMac. I'm still looking for the Strawberry, Tangerine, Lime, and Sage. I've been looking at eBay and Craigslist everyday for the past year, and not once have I ever seen a Sage model. I think these are more rare than the Flower Power and/or Dalmatian.

I'm also posting a few of my posters. I have a bunch more in the shelf. I just haven't had the time to head down to Michael's to pick up a few more frames.

One of my biggest regrets is throwing away my first ever Mac, a 266MHz Tangerine iMac, which I bought new back in 1998. It crapped out on me back in 2004. I wasn't tech-savvy then, so I didn't bother fixing it. Sure, I can always pick one up now, but it's not the same :-(

The last image is that of my wife's setup, which is a Dual 1GHz QS hooked up to a 22" ACD. This was my old setup when I was going through Community College. I bought this system just to "kiss butt." Just kiddin. She does support my addiction.

Enjoy . . .

I don't understand why people would "collect" these things. Fair enough if they were actually interesting to look at (which they're not) but each new model makes the previous one obsolete.

Having them stacked up like that looks like a waste of space to me, and I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could probably find a charity or someone in need who could make MUCH better use of those computers than you.

Man's gotta have a hobby.

The same thing could be said about the money you spend on yours ;)

Well yes, but I don't hoard them like this. I can understand people who collect cars from the same manufacturer who get the joy of maintaining and driving them, but macaddict23's "setup" looks like they all just sit there for no reason other than decoration.

Without power, these things are useless.

Check out my blog on collection SEGA stuff. Each to their own. If you don't collect anything, good for you. This guy obviously collects macs and doesn't use them soley for work or play. He actually enjoys owning them all. It doesn't matter if they're never turned on again. Better in a cared environment, as ornaments, than in a landfill site.

I'd definitely take that trip to IKEA it's worth it. I'm almost positive mine is the GALANT desk but I'll check to be sure. The seem to base their design on simplicity and that's what I wanted when I went and I had plenty to choose from.

Different people - different hobbies. Some collect cars, like you said, or tune their Honda Civic (which is much less pleasing to look at :D ) or collect model ships/planes/etc... others with enough money collect art and put it stored in a separate room because they don't have enough space on their walls.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Don't judge other peoples interests, passions or possessions by your own standards, better say/write nothing at all.

Yes sir! I've always been a bit of a collector so I understand wanting things for no other reason than just feeding your addiction. From baseball cards, to coins, to DVDs. I have a little Mac collection going on. If I see something at a garage sale or something I just can't resist. I got an iMac G3 free and a G3 Power Mac for $70 with the studio CRT...unfortunately my fiance forced me to ditch the CRT before we moved into our apartment. I never really had a use for it anyway.

I used to "collect" things as well, but I have now become a minimalist. It was a long process but over the past 3 years I sold or donated many items. Partly because I'm very lazy, maintaining a lot of stuff sucks, plus when you're young you tend to move more. I also don't want to buy something and not get near daily use out of it.

But I love macaddict's collection. I wonder how dusty things get.

I bet a lot of people here think your post is a waste of space. If you don't like it, bugger off.

I actually have a total of 11 Cubes. The other two are a 450Mhz and 500Mhz are mint-to-near-mint in the box. These Cubes are hard to find without any scratches. The reason being, well the casing is plastic. Whenever you have to get in the computer, the unit gets turned over thus scuffing/scratching the Apple logo.

Oh, my uncle gave it to me. I think it's the old Apple Universal dock, not the new big one with the remote control. You can probably find one on eBay. :)
