I've been studying for my psych final for about three hours now, and it's time for a break. Figured I'd snap a quick pic of my terribly messy desk:

... And here's a pic where you can see my roommate playing WoW. He should be studying! ... But I'm just as guilty; I was playing some TF2 just a few hours ago. :p

... Sorry for the crappy pics. I've got a decent camera, but I was trying to be quick - finals suck!

Update

Hi everyone. I'm not the most frequent poster, but I love checking out everyone's setups. I've updated mine since Part 3 of this thread, in that I have a new stand for my MBP (which itself is newer), a new printer, and new art on the walls (technically much older art).

Very nice setup indeed Tup.

What about that stand, do you like it? Will it work with MacBook (white)?

Thank you, even if you are calling me an uncastrated male sheep.

I do like the stand. It's vertical and saves space, and has a modern design, but was quite overpriced. However, it did come with spacers so it could effectively support any notebook.

Awesome setup! 30" ACD  It looks gigantic in your room.

Hey I'm thinking differently! :) A friend of mine who works on it sent it, and you know it's actually got some great stuff going on.

Awesome setup! 30" ACD  It looks gigantic in your room.

Thank you! People counseled me against it, recommending two 24" displays side by side. However, I'm really glad I went with it after all, especially when it comes to HD video, photography, and long form writing.

Oh nice.

My X-Box 360 red-ringed this morning. I bought it last month.

Mine decided to yesterday, but I was lucky enough to have a year and a half of usage from it. Just waiting for a postage label from Microsoft to get t sent off and sorted out.

It's what I use for TV and Movies in my lounge though, so I'm really missing it, wanted to watch Taken last night :(

Good luck on finals!
I just finished last Wednesday and grades just finished posting last night. I hate the waiting for grades to post part.

My Xbox gave me those ugly red rings a couple days ago, I panicked. Turned it off and then back on and it is working great. I just hope it'll last me through the end of the year.

why is your sub on your desk?

Here's to answer your question:

Those are the Swan m10 speakers.
the placement that ghostchild has is CORRECT. While the sub doesn't play past 100hz much, anything above 70-80hz is directional, which means the system sounds best when the subwoofer is placed directly in front of the user. The system isn't meant to play loud; it's meant to play accurately. The subwoofer isn't a subwoofer in the traditional sense of a big box that gets thrown in the corner and blows the roof off. Think of it as just reinforcing the lower octaves. If you don't have the subwoofer on the desk, it sounds like crap.

How's that 28-135 working for you? For me it was pure fail. Wondering if others have had better luck than me... :(

Eek. Mine's been fine since launch day, but I keep it vertical and well ventilated, not in a cabinet. I'm pretty sure RRoD is related to overheating. Having said that, I see your point about MS hardware. I have them more to be a completist. My preference for portable game/music is my iPhone 3G or DS, and for console games my PS3 or Wii.

Ooh, very close! That lens is actually a 17-55mm f/2.8. And it's just gorgeous. I read that the 28-135mm f/3.5 was inconsistent and less than sharp stopped down. I'm very happy with this 17-55, it's on my camera more than anything else. My favorite for now though is the 50mm f/1.4 next to it. Nighttime dinner parties look like stills from the Godfather. But this shot was taken with a 10-22mm f/3.5, at 10mm to get the whole room in the one shot. But I had to a flash, in this case a Speedlite 580 EX II.

Congratulations. You win at having the best setup. Ever.

Agreed.

Here's mine anyway; perhaps I can get some sort of consolation prize for.... ah.... good effort?

My first new setup pic since June!

iBook G4, much-used but almost never photographed in the 2 years or so I've owned it. 1.33 GHz, 1GB RAM/40GB HDD (ugh!) and Tiger.

Power Mac G4, 900MHz 1GB/140GB/Leopard/Airport/DVD-RW DL. Donated by a friend who I bought it for in the first place :D It's hooked up to a Dell E198WFP donated by none other than my mother, because I gave her an ancient Sceptre LCD in return. It came with her new computer and she "doesn't like how it's all wide and bright".

Finally, the whole setup. Christmas lights. Big pimpin'.
