I'm still moving in and trying to figure out how I want things. This is pretty much settled I think, until tomorrow when I get back to work and find out I'm not liking the way things are.

Maybe you need some art on the walls :)

That looks like a large format Epson or Canon printer--How is it?

I am looking at the 11 x 17 capable ink jets; found an HP K8600DN for a decent price ($300), but it's hard to figure out what's good.

Mostly looking at printing very small runs of marketing materials; don't care about photos.

I'm not jessica...obviously...but I've got the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 next to my Mac Pro that I use for test runs of my designs and it's been absolutely astounding. It impresses me every single time I use it.

I can't speak for much, but one thing I do know is that I've been the most impressed with Canon and Epson printers. I don't have much experience with HP, but you really can't beat top-end Epson and Canon.

Yeah. My wife and I also have a PIXMA Pro9000 (along with an iP4500) and that thing is just as beautiful as the results it provides.

What part of NC?
Raleigh. :)
Why would you ever go to such a dreadful state? ;)

I've got a brother who lives in Burlington.

I do love the new spacious setup
Trust me, I think my neighborhood would be to your satisfaction. Though the closet Ikea is 300 miles away. ;)

It is an Epson R1800. Aside from the major issue of me spending hours trying to print on canvas that was supposed to be made FOR the Epson, it is decent. Honestly it is not very forgiving when it comes to paper. It will give you random errors when it should just say the paper is too thick. I wasted $60.00 on canvas that is useless to me now. and it was for a Christmas present so I was pretty annoyed. I didn't want the Epson branded canvas, I wanted something a bit nicer, that'll teach me. Though the Epson canvas is nice, I was just trying to be fancy.

I've only used Epsons really, but I think if I ever decide to get rid of this I will move to Canon. I hear they accept thicker papers and such.

The HP is also a very decent printer, the large format HP printers.

Art is following. I've got some behind me (mostly my degrees), but i did just move in and finish unpacking that same day I posted the pics. ;)

I can post all of the other macs if you want me to, they are just the other ones in my house. The Macbook Pro used to be mine, but I swapped it with brother because I needed a smaller laptop for school.

new addition to the setup

PB 12" 1.5GHZ 1.25GB RAM. Running Tiger 10.4.11

Good choice sticking with Tiger. I installed Leopard on my same spec'd powerbook and it slowed down a bit. Mainly just Finder and spotlight. Everything else runs great.
Nice find!
I just bought a Dual 800 G4 quicksilver, looking forward to getting Tiger running on it. I might try Leopard, just to see if 2001 technology can handle a current OS ;)

I don't think any city in NC compares to this place.

I love Atlanta. It's only 2 hours from my college (Western Carolina University) and it's amazing. I don't know how those that live there feel about it but I like it a lot...may even move there after graduation.

Nice!

I've got a 20" iMac G4 on it's way to me as we speak!

Yea, you'll be happy with the 20". I got inpatient and got the first one that came my way. It's useable but without bluetooth and usb 2.0 and a slower processor it isn't capable of much. I mainly just use it for internet, word, and photoshop. It's better now with Tiger though and I can update everything properly now. But the 20" is definitely the way to go. It's got more of the modern features. I'll probably switch up one day, but the powerbook should hold me over for a while.

I only have a PowerBook

I wish I had a MacBook Pro Even a 2.33 GHz. All I have is a 1.67 GHz PowerBook and no camera to post a picture of it with. But I have a SWEET background of the new MacBook Pro. I made it myself. It is even the same resolution of my screen. my setup is basicly bed + PowerBook and cheap replacement power adapter because my apple one caught fire

I only have two strips above my Macbook, and the other two are on top of the desk/shelf thingie (like in the attached pictures - crappy quality for which I apologize again). Even with those two, I don't have trouble reading on the desk. I assume that with four all together, you'd have a perfectly well lit reading area.

This picture makes it look like the coloured LEDs also emit white light. Do the normal white LEDs emit yellow or white light? Sorry for the questions. :D
