It was probably my fault for going to K-Mart and Target looking for a desk. I love the glass displays that people have here, and I also love the light colored wood. I'm going to look into a glass desk during lunch tomorrow, hopefully I'll have a picture to add by this weekend.

Yeah, those stores aren't exactly known for quality desks. :) ;)

Congrats on the MBP, and hope you find the desk you are looking for.

i just got that monitor today! its the "dual tone grey" version of the 1707FP.....i thought it suited my powerbook rather well.

the powerbook does look close to the door; its a bit misleading. i can assure you that the door cannot hit the powerbook at all, its actually about 6 inches away from the frame. my room is actually really small, si there isnt really anywhere else for it to go if i want to revise for exams comfortably.

I wasn't worried about the door hitting it, but more of people walking by seeing the nice computer and wanting to steal it or someone coming in the room and knocking it over. If you're comfortable with it there, then it's not my place to tell you what you can and can't do. I was just always taught to try to keep valuables hidden in dorms so that someone walking by couldn't easily see it.

oh i see.....i know what you mean, and i see your point. i should have explained that im living in a house this year with 3 other people, not in a giant dorm (i have had enough of that last year to last me a lifetime!)...who incedentally, hate macs...so no real danger.

Just sorted my stuff out, finally my setup is how I wanted it! I have MacBook (see sig for spec), wireless MM and keyboard, Dell 2007WFP (got it today :D), iCurve, JBL Spot Speakers and a 3rd Gen 20GB iPod still going strong after 2 and a half years! My Samsung D900 is on my desk as well, contract runs out when the iPhone is released in UK later this year. :D

New MacBook Pro and HD Display

Well I finally did it. I got the setup of my dreams. I sold a ton of music gear I had from high school that I never use anymore and it made me more money than I expected. My prior computer was an iMac G5, its on eBay if anyone's interested.

Here's my new set-up

Nice black keys on the keyboard :D . Did you just paint them over?

I'd say that the black keys have more of a rounded shape compared to the white ones. Besides, on the 2nd pic, the right shift key has white text on it, which might be just a bit *too* much for DIY :)

TravisL, love the setup!

MatthewConnelly, Holy crap that's CLEAN! Two thumbs up.

I'll post a before and after picture of my setup by the end of the day.

I went into my local Apple Store (Arndale, Manchester UK) and just asked if they had any iCurves in stock. The guy just showed me where they were and I paid for it. They didn't have the newer Griffin Elevators in, just the iCurve, but it seems as though a lot of people prefer the iCurve.

new setup

just rearranged furniture in my room, now the desk is next to the window as opposed to my older setup. this is pretty much it for now. the gameboy advance may or may not stay on the desk though, i man favor a minimalist look. biggest change though is the monitor, got it for under 200 bucks on sale at office depot last week. and it has two outputs, so i can easily switch monitors from the mac to pc without too much trouble.

sorry for the low light, this was at 2 am this morning and i had the macbook closed (that's my pc's screen on the monitor, not the macbook's.)

Hehe, I was removing all the keys to give my keyboard a nice clean, and as I was about to put the keys back on I remembered I had an old broken Apple keyboard so I just kind of randomly put the keys back on from both keyboards. :)
