Updated Set Up

I've changed some things around. I got rid of a desk to make room for my theater in my office. I've just ordered an iTV to replace my media center pc for my theater. Any feedback on the iTV, how is networking between computers for video streaming?

Nice setup!

No one has the iTV yet, so you're not going to be getting any first-hand opinions on it. But, considering that the entire purpose of the product is network streaming video, I'm sure it handles it just fine.

How do you like that Slingbox? What version do you have? How is the picture quality?

I'm heading off to college in the fall, and MU only offers basic cable in the dorms. I was thinking of setting up the slingbox here at my house, so I can have sattelite television at my dorm. Does that sound like a good use for it, or am I completely missing the point?

The quality is good as long as you have a good connection. Being at a college you will at least have a T1 service, I think? I have the oldest model available, not sure which version. I bought it about 2 years ago if that helps. I have actually used my cell as a bluetooth modem (using Verizon's EVDO), and the quality is decent while I am in my vehicle. You should get the slingbox, it would definetly beat basic cable.

stand?

it looks like a dual stand that not only holds the laptop but also arm mounts the Dell LCD....got a link for that ?

zerosnipe, what is that black thing behind your lcd? wheres your 360 at? your setup is cool but would be even cooler if you enacted some good cord management.

2007: plus a MacBook.

By the way, there are a lot of computers I still own but which are not depicted in the photograph - just read my signature :)

What are you using to elevate your macbook there? It looks like its floating!

-Edit- Or is it an iBook? I can't see it properly. -Edit-

Just cleaned up and it all looks great from this view.

Then you look down here and wow.

I've tried everything to clean that mess up with twisty ties or hiding it behind boxes but I've just given up. :(

The key to cable organization isn't organizing it...it's hiding it. Ok, perhaps organization would work, but I'll never know. read up:

http://lifehacker.com/software/workspaces/hack-attack-the-cordless-workspace-sort-of-179911.php

I am too cheap and lazy to get to ikea and spend $26 on 2 of those wire trays so I just built 2 of my own with the back of an old bookcase i found on the street, some screws around the edges to hold the giant mess of wires and some twist ties and eye-hooks holding it to the bottom of my desk. works perfectly, you can't see a cord except necessary ones on the desk unless you were to sit on the floor.

An old coworker had a glass desk so she used a fancy black metal & cardboard storage box from ikea on the floor to hold all the ugly cables.

The ol' sawtooth is still lookin' sharp, it's a small advantage, but there is no 6 year old pc that looks that good.

This is my setup so far, I only have one picture right now, I decided to just take a shot of everything instead of little shots of individuals. I still use a PC, but I absolutely love OSX. If it were not for a few games and how good it still works, it wouldn't be there! Anyway, here is the shot:

I'm 15, and I think this is as pretty clean as my desk gets, I wish I could have a super clean desk like some of the others. Oh, also, zerosnipe, I love your dual monitor/laptop contraption! I definitely want one of those!

Wow i wish i was as lucky as you are to have that set up. is it a 20" or 24" monitor?

OMG at 15 why do you need that many computers, I mean wow. Do you do production of some sort??

or are you a hardcore gamer?

Also far left monitor is that LCD or CRT

Hello kitki83, the monitor on the left is LCD (unless you are talking about the BlackBook,) I'm not a big gamer, but I do use the monitors for building on Second Life. I build furniture, sell prefabs, and do many customs. I like being able to look at everything in detail, since thats what I'm all about. Its a nice excuse to have, and I just love computers.

And jordygreen its a 2407WFP (24) and the one on the left is an old Microtek 19"
