Just because it has the same brand panel doesn't mean its the same quality panel.
I know that LG produce different ranges & hence qualities of panels, however the price comparisons that I was making were between the ACD & products like LG's own Flatron range & Dell's Ultrasharp range, which use EXACTLY THE SAME PANELS as the ACDs. If you were to buy a 30" ACD, it would have the exact same panel as a 30" Dell Ultrasharp.

And just because it's Apple doesn't mean it's a better quality panel. ;) Just sayin'....

All the ACDs use S-IPS panels which is the best type on the market. Many of the other monitors you see use TN (worst type) and some use PVA (better but not as good as s-ips).

Nope, ACD use the OLD version of the S-IPS panels, while the newest Dell monitors use the newer version of the S-IPS panels. Some Dells still ship with the older panel, but they are in the minority. The majority of the S-IPS panels in the new Dells are better models than the ACD's, as they haven't updated theirs in a few years.

Bottom line is that Apple has really fallen behind in their ACD line.

Decided to drop the monitor closer to the desk, much better imo
I agree. I always lean a bit forward on my desk, and in doing so looking in a downward angle. Ironically my arms and hands start to hurt when I'm in the 'official' anti-rsi-straight-back position while working :) Only reason I don't buy an iMac ;(

Yeah I know. But some people compare ACD pricing to monitors with TN panels, which is a no no. ACDs are desperately in need for an update though (HDCP etc)

Mac Setup

Im 14. Pics include iMac G4(700mhz 320mb of ram, 40gig hardrive, 15 inhc lcd) just chilling in the studio, Mac Mini 1.25ghz g4, 40 gig hardrive, 1 gig of ram with 22 inch lcd. and my powerbook g4 1.33ghz 512mb of ram, 60 gig harddrive.

Just wanted to report that I just got my new HD MBP today and recived two silent upgrades. They gave me 4GB ram and a 7200 RPM hdd. without me asking... VERY nice. will post pics soon :D:D:D:D

Isn't 4GB a waste of money? From what I know, the max the OS will use is 3.2GB.

That's windows, mainly because most copies are 32-bit. OS X is 64-bit and depending on your hardware, can support about as much as you can put in.

Btw, what's that thingy on the far left? (no, not the guitar ;))

Alright everyone... I know I need a new desk but other then that... my setup is really done. I don't want an LCD display because I use my laptop as an actual "laptop" too often to spend the money.

Specs:
17" Macbook Pro
-HD 1920x1200- glossy display
-160 GB HDD @ 7200 RPM
-4GB 100% Apple RAM
-GeForce 8600M GT graphics w/ 256MB

So for those keeping score, that's a 100%- FULLY LOADED 17" Macbook Pro

Just sold my macbook to a fellow Macrumors member so using this little old rig till I buy either a macbook pro or an iMac + 12" powerbook.

The thing about using a cube is that I don't feel like I'm using something old. It looks great and runs everything I need from youtube videos to writing papers on the pokey 450mhz processor.

Sorry for the bad quality camera picture :D. It was dark and the lamp light is terrible.

G4 Cubes are really cool systems, I'm honestly considering buying one off eBay just for collection's sake.
