Quite.

Having had hands on both, the MB's seem much more solid to me. Significantly more "flex" in the chassis of the MBP.

dont get me wrong they still look good. i just think the silver stands out so much more thank the black, and the white just doesnt do it for me
I think the blackbook looks the slickest of the three (but is a fingerprint nightmare).

Just curious as to why you are looking to upgrade to the MBP. The updated SR chipset (with faster CPU and FSB)? GPU?

Personally, I MUCH prefer the form factor and look of the MB's over the MBP's.

I can't speak for leftfoot, but I have both a MacBook and MacBook Pro (original Core Duo models) and I can't imagine being confined to the MacBook after getting the MacBook Pro. I love having the higher resolution screen on the MBP, mainly. The MBP itself is only marginally larger physically than the MB, but I can get so much more done on it because of the larger screen and more natural keyboard. Then there's all the perks like the backlit keyboard, etc, that just are really nice to have at times. I like the MB just fine, it's a great computer, but I'll take my MBP first any day. Since I never use the MacBook any more, it has become my wife's main computer.

I just recently upgraded from my Blackbook (2GB/160GB) to my current 17" Macbook Pro (HD, Glossy, 4GB-Apple Ram, 250GB HDD) and I really don't miss my macbook's form factor at all... I personally enjoy having the larger screen so much that it makes everything worth it.... espically when you're watching something in native 1080p resolution :D.

If you see one in person and look closely, you won't see the beauty anymore. The surface surrounding the keyboard is a light gray and clashes with the white.

BlackBooks pwn WhiteBooks

I agree 100%, my sister has a WhiteBook and the two pads on either side of the trackpad look almost totally grey :( I like the BlackBooks much better however I'm kind of partial to aircraft-grade anodized aluminum. MBP FTW!!!
:D:apple::cool:

You would start to miss the MB's form factor if you started carrying that 17" MBP all day long, not to mention trying to fit it on the table on the train or areoplane!

Old set up is on the top left.

the other 3 are the cleanup desk and new printer with removal of old printer and scanner.

Those are the Altec Lansing FX6021. I have them and they're amazing. Definitely the best PC speakers I've ever heard.

My first post to the setup forum from my macintosh!

The black tower died and I was using a 1.6ghz celeron with 128mb of ram waiting on my iMac.

The graphics card on the macbook is horrible. When I bought the macbook, I didn't think that I would be using anything graphic intensive, but that isn't the case anymore. :cool:

I'd be curious to know what it is you have been now doing that is too graphics intensive for the MacBook. (well, specifically, anything non-gaming-related) ;)

I have seen those in stores, but I haven't found a setup where I could listen to them. Are they really that good? How would they stack up to bose for example?

Thanks,

Ado

p.s. - love the sig. Pats just ROCKED the cowboys. Last Red Sox game hurt, but I have faith.

is that a 23 inch or 30 inch cinema display? im thinking of getting the 23 so i just kinda want to get a grasp of how big it is. how huge is the display when you first get it? quickly get used to it?
im just thinking about whether i should get an ACD as its fair expensive... almost half the price of my mac. or should i go for the dell 24 inch... it will be 200 dollars cheaper for me. i really like the ACD for its striking design which matches my macbook pro, its firewire & USB hub its HD resolution... but the dell has more inputs. also should i hold out for the supposed new ACD around the corner. i think they will have HDCP and the better displays.

Bose is really overrated. The FX6021s are really good. Great highs, lows, and mids (which I find that most cheaper PC speakers lack). Plus they look awesome.

Also the Pats did own yesterday. come join us in the community discussion "NFL 2007" and "P-p-p-playoffs 2007" threads :)

thanks for letting me know which kind of altec lansing speakers those were!

question, anyone know what page the spiderman room is on hahaha, the red walls with the nice desk setup and logitech z5500 speakers

let me know pls
thx

That's the 23 incher. I don't think the thirty inch would even fit on my desk. It definitely feels a lot bigger than my old 17" Dell monitor, but I got used to it.

Okay, so I cleaned up the wires and moved things around a bit. I know it's not as pristine as some of the set-ups here, but its as neat as I can make it. :)
