Wow..a Lombard. There's something you don't see every day. I may have to get a picture of my Pismo now (and I have a Wallstreet hidden away in a drawer at work). Three cheers for the black PowerBooks!
:D

I really, really like mine. It came with Photoshop Elements and I've been using it to resize images and stuff. I haven't really played around a whole lot on it yet. OS 8.6 is pretty cool. I'd like to update to a newer version of QuickTime, though. Anyone know where to download a newer version of QuickTime that would work on 8.6? I tried VersionTracker, but it takes you to a broken link on Apple's website. I've been using Mozilla for a browser and I plan to get it wireless here in a couple weeks, probably. I've really been enjoying it so far.

Before I got my Lombard, I seen someone selling 2 brand new Wallstreets in the original boxes and everything and if I'm not mistaken, they were still sealed. I wanted something newer than a Wallstreet, though. That's why I chose a Lombard. Plus, it came with the original System Restore disc, Photoshop Elements, and 2 batteries.

Very nice. I love the looks of the G4's and the old Cinema/Studio Displays. Too much metal on the G5's and the new displays.

although personally I don't mind the g5 cases (though the g4's a slightly nicer) I tottaly prefer the old display style to the new one. I'm may be in the market for an apple LCD in the next few months and I'm hoping to get an older 22" as appose to the new metal ones.

I don't mind the G5 cases either, I just like the design of the G4's better. My biggest gripe about the G5's however, is the fact that they only have one optical drive bay.

Yeah.........G5 is fine......but the new ACD's are not as nice as the old once..... :(

I know, I don't dis-like the new ACD per-say. It's just every time i see an old one I'm like "damn, thats nice" and the new one's just don't gimme that buzz. If I can find one of the old ones at a decent price I'd buy it up over a new one.

While we're still on the topic of G4's and the better-looking displays, here's my new setup. As you can see it changed just a little from my previous setup.

It seems like you are constantly updating you setup dsharits. I don't have a problem with it, I just notice that you are always posting pictures in this thread and each time it is a major update. I do enjoy watching the evolution of your desk though. You should the most recent picture as well as your original.

I haven't posted my new setup with the new iMac, so I figured I would. I have been hesitating because since we moved into our new house, my room color and wallpaper is hideous. So I decided to photoshop it out. The desk is also not my normal desk, it is more a of small table and I am just waiting until we put the new carpet into to put my desk back together. Once the carpet is out, we will start painting the walls.

Did you photoshop in your Macs...? :p

No, all i did was quickly put a color over the wall that was behind the desk. It's this horrible flower pattern and is probably 40 years old and it's just too embarrassing to show.

True, have had a ton of major updates in the past year. I might as well tell you the story of my life in the world of Apple, so you will have something to go along with the pictures.
I got my very first Mac, a Blueberry Clamshell iBook, four years ago, when I was fifteen. I bought it from a woman in my neighborhood who had it in her garage sale. The killer: she bought it from someone else, never used it, and she sold it to me for $20! It had OS 9.0.4 when I got it, I used it and hated it, but I updated it to 10.1 a year later. I was actually trying to trade it or sell it for a Windows laptop for a while, because I really never liked 9.0, but once I got OS X, my entire outlook changed drastically. I upgraded the hard drive from the stock 3 GB to a 40 GB in the summer of 2003. I stayed on 10.1 for a little over a year, until I bought Panther when it was introduced, but sadly, something happened to the video a few months later. I woke it from sleep one morning to find the screen filled with a bunch of lines and colors. Since it had become such an integral part of my schoolwork and my hobbies, my parents graciously gave me $400 toward a new 800 MHz iBook G3 (which was $799 on the discount page at the time), when the iBook G4's first came out.
I used to have just my iBook and a lot of desk space, until I decided to buy my first desktop Mac last year, just so I could have something with some expandability (something to play with, basically). I traded the Clamshell to RGunner for a loaded Power Mac 7300. For a little while, it was just my 7300 and a single CRT along with my iBook. That stayed as my main setup until a friend gave me a Biege G3 that he had sitting in his garage not being used. I gave that some upgrading, and it stayed in my setup along with my 7300 until my school needed a computer to use for the yearbook committee. I took the 7300 there and brought it back this past December. Meanwhile, my iBook G3 had one of the infamous logic board failures, DHL lost it in transit back to my house, and Apple replaced it with my present iBook G4.
I had kept the 802.11b AirPort card from the Clamshell, thinking I might find a use for it. In January of this year, I worked out a deal with a member of another forum to buy his B&W G3 from him for $50 plus the AirPort card. The day before I sent him the payment, I was telling one of my friends at church about it, and he told me that he had a B&W sitting in his closet taking up space, and I could have it if I wanted it. He gave it to me, and I canceled the other deal. I gave my friend the AirPort card as some sort of payment for his generosity.
I set up the Beige in my sister's room, and I put the B&W in mine. I maxed out (or came pretty darn close) the B&W in just about everything (including a 500 MHz G4 processor), and it ran like a dream. I bought a Radeon 9200 for it when I got my 15" Studio Display, so I could run dual monitors. I upgraded it to Tiger the first day it was available, and it ran that like a dream. Then, it happened....
In May, I was browsing Craigslist, looking at the different Mac systems for sale, and I came across one that just about made me scream. I found a guy in Miami selling his Dual 1 GHz MDD G4 and his 17" Studio LCD for $850. I sent him an e-mail as fast as I could. As it turned out, I talked him down to $800 plus shipping to Tampa (whch came out to $825 total), and that is my present Mac, along with my iBook G4. Since then, it's only been small upgrades, like another GB of RAM and a 16x dual layer Superdrive. Now, I have a network (just in my room) of a 7300, a B&W, an iBook G4 and, of course a Power Mac G4 (my sister has my Beige G3, but that doesn't count). I don't plan on upgrading to anything else for a long, long time (of course, I didn't plan on most of my upgrades to this point either :p ). I am really loving the power of this G4, and I won't at all mind being "stuck" with it until I buy an Intel Mac in a few years.
Anyway, that is my story thus far. I hope I didn't bore you too much. ;)
This is the earliest picture that I have of my setup. This was with the Beige G3 and the iBook G4: here
Next, it was replaced with the B&W: here
Then, I set up dual displays: here
And finally, today: here
All of these pictures were taken within the last 7 months, the earliest (the Beige G3) on January 4th of this year. So, yes, I have gone throught a ton of changes, most of them within the last year.

Right now, video is just a personal hobby. However, I do a LOT of audio work for different organizations I'm involved in. I hope to get into the video/audio field professionally someday.

Just received my iMac G5! I'm a switcher. In a few hours I had Office, Creative Suite 2 and my music all loaded up. I'm NEVER going back to Windows!

Hey, my Applications folder has iWork in it... is that normal? Does Tiger come with a trial of iWork? If I buy iWork, should I remove the iWork folder that's already there? Or did I just receive a free copy?

This is a temporary setup... :D

Right, I do have the Kaoss Pad and the dual cd player there, as well as a total of 20 mixing channels on my desk. I also have a rack with a few EQ's, some compressors and amps next to my desk (on the right side) along with another 10 mixing channels. Everything is piped through two 12" Gemini GSM 1250's on either side of my setup. I do most of my audio work and all of my video work on my G4. I haven't really gotten into video besides basic stuff until recently, because my most powerful computer was my iBook up until a month ago. Now, with the Dual G4, it's a little easier to get into it.
