I really like how you have the external HDDs arranged under the sideways bookshelf, and I like raising the machine off the floor a few inches because it should decrease dust collection a little bit, but I sort of doubt the structural integrity of the furniture. You know better, of course. Is the camcorder connected for iChat AV?

Thanks for the comments.

To answer some of your quesstions,

No, those aren't snake skin boots, lol.

Good eyes Rod Rod! I flipped the bookshelf on its side to see if it would work and I too was wondering if it could hold the weight. Only way to check it out was for me to sit on it. I proved that it could withstand 10 PowerMacs on it. :eek:

Yes the camera is for iChat and as for the performance boost over the iMac 800mhz, gee my guess would be 3-4 times. Just for fun I ran all the prgs in my dock at once,Word, PowerPoint,Excel,Mail,AddressBook,iCal, iChat,FireFox, Safari,iTunes (playing), iPhoto (3000 pics),iMovie (playing),iDVD,GarageBand, StickyBrain,WireTap Pro and the activity monitor still said I had 1gb (of 3gb) of memory left which was 2x what the iMac had in total.

The delivery company is aptly named, "Same Day Delivery". The PowerMac was shipped on a Wednesday and it was delivered on a Wednesday. Not counting the 3 weeks it took to get from California to my home just outside of Toronto.

The wife will tell you that I was waiting outside for all 21 days, lol.

I really did the slideshow to bug my PC buddy, he always said us Mac geeks are nutty and I wanted to prove him right. Guess who now owns the old iMac, lol. Long story how I made him see the light, will tell at a later time.

Thanks :D I try

My old setup:
2000- Toshiba Satellite Pro 425CDT (damn fine machine, sturdy as hell)

I know what you mean about the satellite pro - I have a 440 CDT from '97. The thing is a quality benchmark - built like a tank. Just refuses to die though it only has a P 133 MMX and 80 MB of ram. Is now the baby's play computer and it is not phased a bit by her typing technique. I love my 15" Alum. PB, but I think the keyboard would come apart under the kind of abuse I've witnessed. I'm sad that my 440 CDT is limited to only 140 or so MB of ram because it appears to be so over-built as to be going strong decades from now.

to the point of the thread:

Dual 1.42 G4 FW800 PM, 2 GB RAM, ATI 9000; conntected to:
Sony Mulitiscan G400 19" flat CRT (monitor has been great to date)
15" 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4, 512 MB RAM, ATI 9700 w/ 128 MB VRAM; 80 GB HD;
IBM ThinkPad 15" T42, 1.7 GHz with hi-res screen option (1400 x 1050), Verizon wireless broadband card (what a tool that is - not for use while driving kids, but it's great to be free from having to find Wi-Fi hot spots); 512 MB RAM, XP Pro, ATI 64 MB;
Airport Base Station;
Airport Express;
Netgear En104 tp 4-port hub (also built like a tank);
HP deskjet 5150 usb;
HP Laserjet 2100 on an ethernet card;
Motorola cable modem

Thanks for asking. I'm afraid that the pictures would be quite lame - just pictures of the stuff in my home office... which is a great space with some nice wood and a great firefplace, and a stereo-type soap opera office wetbar thingy that gives a good "I'm a heavy drinker" impression (and some terrible wall paper from the last owner) but the G4 PM just looks like any other G4 PM. The PB roams the house. Kitchen counter, dinning room, etc., so it's a moving target. That said, I'll try and snap a picture or two sometime this week.

Finally got my Powerbook 12"

Finally got my Powerbook 12" whooooo!!!! LOVIN it to lol..

i've never had to deal with toshiba cs (took me awhile on that abbreviation :eek:) but it had several issues and best buy was--less than helpful about it. long story short the power supply wouldnt get current from the wall and the battery was drained (ended up losing all the data on there cause they wanted $200 to back up data onto a cd :eek:) and shipping it to the repair center some keys got damaged/came off/whatever, so the service center refused to repair it because it had been "abused." but it worked out in the end--made a switcher out of me and my mom ended up with a nice hp lappy that best buy gave us in exchange for the dead toshiba...yeah, toshiba stuff is generally good but errm...not buying any laptops from them anymore. 'cept that new libretto looks oh so sexy....*slaps self* </rant>

UMAX PowerPC 603e/200 Apus 2000

I picked up this nice little UMAX Mac Clone for $10 at a PC show. Got a free mouse and keyboard too. Not a bad machine at all I popped in a SMC 10/100 Ethenet PCI card I had in there. It's running Mac OS 8.6 and I think it has 90mb of RAM or something. Pretty sweet if you ask me...and only $10! :D

When I bought this I also got an iMac DV Graphite 400mhz/DVD/FW for $40 and there was a Macintosh TV (Black) but I didn't have the money :p

Enjoy! :D

New PowerMac... :D

how do you like your Elgato eyeTV, (is it a 200 or 500) I was interested in getting one, but they don't have any that suit my needs, I need the features of both 200+500

plus I already have a PVR, i just cannot hook it up to my PowerBook (evil montreal cable company Vidéotron disabled that feature) though it does have 2 firewire ports

Here's what's in my house right now. It's really spread out right now, as I'm about to buy a Powermac, so right now isn't the best time for pics. But here's what I currently have in the house (Not all for my use):

1 15 inch Powerbook with 1.5 GHz processor 1.25 gigs of RAM.
2 15 inch iMacs both with 800 MHz processors
1 20 inch Apple Display
1 Apple Airport Base Station
2 Apple Airport Expreses
1 HP Laserjet 1200
1 HP inkjet 3820
1 Epson Photo 820

All the printers are hooked up to the network, which has as cable modem hooked up it. That's the current setup, which I'm sure will change over the summer...

Speaking of which, dude you got a bit**ing system yourself. I'm sure you got sorted in your new place; did you get the table you wanted to setup your PowerMac on? If so post an update to your setup. BTW thanks on that Hawking Technologies Antenna; helps immensely right now.

STill no Mac as of yet. Im not liking this summer thus far, everything is perfect just no Mac.

Thanks. I didn't get to bring that table yet but I brought a different one to use temporarily. Since the last set of pictures I posted in this thread I've hooked up my Epson R200 and a few FW hard drives.

This is my 23" PowerBook (ok, it's really a 12" but working on the 23" with it is very nice):
060405-1setup.jpg

I have the 23" Cinema Display connected to the PowerBook right now because I'm designing t-shirt graphics (Illustrator) and editing some DV (FCP) on it. I use the dual G5 for high definition video editing and DVD creation. It's great how DVDSP is just about as easy to use as iDVD.

I'm glad you found the antenna helpful in your situation. If one is in range of an open wireless access point (such as a library), it's cheaper to buy a high-gain antenna than to subscribe to dialup, let alone broadband. The trade-off is reliability because when the connection goes down on the free access point, there's nothing you can do (unless there's another open access point available).

nope. :) I sit on a pillow. I'll get proper furniture as soon as I get paid.

Gooood...because you have a great set-up, just no furniture to match :p

Thnks for the updated photos Rod Rod. Hawking definately helped me out. Also must consider the Library thing as well when I move this summer. Is there a specific program on Mac that I can use for dimensions of shirt/sweater/pants design - was thinking of this for years.

Still in the deciding process of PowerMac G5 (dual 1.8ghz) or (iMac G5 rev B); but the honey jar is filling up consistantly with cash to get either. ;) Soon, but not soon enough. Open WiFi is helping that jar fill up. :D . Oh yeah, Rod Rod, love the Apple barstool.
