I still have a lot of finish work to do.

It's a long story.

I wanted to set up 4 LCD's to play Flight Simulator on multiple monitors. I even built a Windows machine to play the game. The windows machine is hooked up to the monitor on the left. I am waiting for the price of the (windows) video card that I want to power all 4 displays to come down to reason. When I first started this, I was expecting the price for the video card to run $300, but it is over $500.

Anyhow, I recently started on the finish work, and I have a long way to go. I want it to look really nice, kindof a Sci-fi look.

finish work? you mean you're going to build the screens into the wall or something?

sounds crazy... but very cool! :D

i could see how i could use all those screens... ;) :D

make sure you come back and post some pics when it's done.

Are you going to paint your setup? I think painting it black would look better than seeing the bare wood. Just a thought.

With all that, it is hard to believe that you are worried about $200 bucks!

anyways, very nice!

You need to cut out of some high-quality cardboard some panels and paint them, to cover all of the wood up, and all of the wires.. then it will look incredible. When you finish it, post another pic please.

ok i know this is going to sound stupid but how did you hook up the 4 moniters? very interested in doing similar with my setup here?

As oaklandburn suggested, just done with additional graphics cards. I've got the Radeon 9600 that came with the G5, a Radeon 7000 PCI and an old Rage 128 PCI. Strictly speaking I don't need the Rage - both the Radeons are dual port cards - but I'm not sure if I've got the right adaptors for the digital ports.

my mac setup

I've posted a link to a pic of my mac setup below. It's in my bedroom, and I use it mainly for school work and watching DVD's. Took advantage of Apple's interest free credit offer for the display, which arrived 2 weeks ago tomorrow. How'd I ever do without it!

Specs are in my sig, but I'll run over them here anyway.

Powerbook G4 rev B AE
LaCie 160gig D2 fw drive
20in cinema display

Hope the link works ok!

andy.

My setup

best thread *ever*. . .

Gotta say, it's fun to see all the setups. Most of them are causing me to drool. All I have is a dinky 12" PB and an old iMac DV 400 for iTunes and internet. I really need to get nice 20" iMac G5 or something. Oh, and a digicam to show it off once I buy it! :p

Cool stuff guys.
